Tean sent me this link:
I’ve looked everywhere on the site and can’t find a link to it, so I never read it until now. But the link was posted by Vimeo staff in their API forums yesterday.
So I’ve since deleted my file. Because it says you can’t “hide” or “mask” their controls and you can’t sell an app based on their API without their written permission.
A special holiday message for the boys and girls at Vimeo from yours truly:

Peace out and happy holidays to everyone

Yeah, bad news CJ, it’s difficult enough to make worth the effort put in a file, much more if you finally can’t sell it because legal terms confussions. Try to use your controls with YT, at least you’ll take advantage of the time and code.

So we can’t include their player in web templates or galleries? I mean, it’ll use their controls and everything, you just load in the player, this is forbidden?

Well it says: “You will not charge users a fee for using your Application without Vimeo’s prior written consent.”
The way I understand it is you can’t charge users to watch a video on your site using the Vimeo player, but it’s not very clear.
But the Vimeo player is all over ThemeForest, so it seems fine.

I tried to work with Vimeo API too, and it seems that API was never made for ActionScript developers. And yes, those terms and conditions are very ugly.

man, that sucks, considering Vimeo is a bit more “classy” than youtube and has some actual decent footage it sucks that their player sucks so bad for devs

You are correct. You can use use the Vimeo API in your templates provided end users do not have to pay to access websites created using the template, or in any other way pay to get to the Vimeo content.

Yeah not all is lost considering the controls just dispatch events and I can change the end functions to do something different. I did purchase an extended license from graphic river for the buttons though (RanFirefly icons), so I imagine I’d have to purchase another one now

Yeah I really don’t understand it. Why have an API that makes all these custom control calls if you can’t build custom controls? Are we in the Twilight zone?

same here in Tucson
I lived in New England for 30 years. And I don’t miss the cold one bit

Some of the player controls can be customized by Plus members ($60 per year)
