Hey guys, I’m looking for some assistance.

I have a canvas printing client that is looking to add a feature to their website that will allow customers to upload their own images and preview it as a canvas and choose size etc. then complete the order all in one system

Here’s a working example of a similar system – http://www.point101.com/canvas_prints/upload

The client’s website runs on Wordpress, so a solution that could be integrated into WP is vital.

Can anyone help please? :)

That is flash based, and is pretty standard stuff with Flash, and would / should work easily with WP.

Making a PHP / WP version should be pretty simple, using a custom post type with custom meta boxes

The solution is to create a Flash-based system to solve all the tasks, and embed it to a WP custom page on your WordPress site.

Thanks for your help guys.

How hard would it be to replicate a similar system? Also, how much would it cost to outsource the coding of such system?

I personally wouldn’t go down the flash route as certain mobile devices (cough apple cough) won’t display it and Android doesn’t anymore, plus Adobe have discontinued flash for mobiles.

I would go the PHP route, with a custom system using custom templates.

I was involved in a project 2 years ago to build something similar in WP, using PHP to build the site.

The whole website cost in the region of £3k and took around 3 months to build.

It was for a photograph framer (you choose a frame, frame size, type, colour etc with a panel showing how it looks).

If you’re interested, contact me via my website garethgillman.co.uk and we can talk specifics.

I am UK based like yourself ;)

Did you have any luck in finding anything with this?

I need exactly the same thing for my Photography website for selling prints and canvas, not even as exotic at a virtual living room on Point101 , just enough to show what will be printed when clients order custom sizes.

The current site I’m moving away from has a similar more basic thing which would do (see jpeg below), its a shame they want to take so much of my sales , even self fulfilled product command a silly % , which is why I’m moving away

Hi MalBryc,

I think this ecommerce platform (licensed / configured for you) that we’ve made might be exactly what you’re looking for (if you want a solution that does WordPress, ecommerce, and a nice flash design tool customers create their own). It can be integrated on other existing sites but it’s much more powerful as a full platform and includes running with wordpress so you can keep your whole old content / site / theme while installing the full shabang. we use this ourselves on a couple sites so we’re always making it better and optimizing it for all of our partners. Flash doesn’t work on mobile, so we’ll be releasing a mobile alternate version soon too.

It’s used for this new canvas print site:

and this custom phone case site:
