GUI Mouse Click Wheel Multi-touch

GUI ? – Following PARC the first GUI -centric computer operating model was the Xerox 8010 Star Information System in 1981.

Mouse??? – The first marketed integrated mouse — shipped as a part of a computer and intended for personal computer navigation — came with the Xerox 8010 Star Information System in 1981.

Wheel? – Mouse Systems introduced the scroll-wheel commercially in 1995, marketing it as the Mouse Systems ProAgio and Genius EasyScroll. However, mainstream adoption of the scroll wheel mouse did not occur until Microsoft released the Microsoft IntelliMouse in 1996. It became a commercial success in 1997 when their Microsoft Office application suite and their Internet Explorer browser started supporting its wheel-scrolling feature.

Multi-touch??? – The first commercially available display using multi-touch technology was the Lemur Input Device, a professional multi-media controller from the French company JazzMutant, launched in 2005.

I won’t give any examples of features stolen by Apple from Microsoft and used from UNIX … There are simply too many and anyway, that’s a totally useless debate. Everyone is stealing from others, otherwise they can’t stay in the business. The only thing that matters is the quality of execution – for some of us it’s better in a Mac, for somes in a PC.

Sorry, but the only reason I think Apple is better is because of how effortless they are t own and operate.

1. I have a Vista, everyone I have around me uses Vista… There are no problems at all. It’s extremely easy to use.

2. On the other hand, if you want it, it gives you many advanced features. Still easilly accessible but not disturbing to news users.

I don’t say that it isn’t the case on OS X … I’m just saying there is no real difference in this.

And the mouse was invented my a secretary for Microsoft and when she showed the idea it was turned down and she then took it to Apple. They bought.

I have been a MAC user since before you could spell. I’m not one of the johnny come lately types who bought because their iPod was cool. The fact of the matter is, in the Movie, Music, and Design business MAC is the most widely used. (im not saying more people use MAC ’s, I’m saying in these specific industries)... Now why is this? Could it be because, PC’s crash too often? They just arn’t stable enough. There is a reason people pay so much for apple products.

I would like to see someone conduct an independent study on people who have never used computers before. Let them use a PC for two weeks and then an Apple for two weeks. Then ask them if they could keep one of the machines, which one they would like to keep. Just short of PC gamers, I would bet 90% would choose the MAC .

Dont talk to me WickedPixel. I am calm.

I used both. Those are just rumors. :)

JWG – the firewire was also an Apple invention. ;)

Yep, both of the systems have about the same amount of bugs. The only real difference is the HW/SW dependance and the GUI . Both things are quite subjective.

Yes, that’s actually the first thing clearly positive/right about Apple innovations cited i nthis thread. The discussion of advantages/disadvanteges of FireWire vs. USB etc. would be enough for a new thread through… :)

BTW , in no way am I trying to start an argument. I do believe that people can voice their opinions and disagree freely. That is the best kind of conversation. So, for future reference, if I am disagreeing and being a little brash, don’t take the brashness to heart. I just like making analogies and debating. I love you all! :) Hugs…? lol

Anyway, I gotta eat some lunch.
