Every individual has his/her own path.

Some are responsible, trying to build something original (to some point, as Ruben said, this is stock Market) , creating excellent help files. The files created by those never need deleting.

And there are some other kind of people , creating exactly same work with little to no touches , with purpose(!) to make some fast bucks and overflooding the marketplace.

Sooo… what you’re saying is: “Higher quality template files that have more customisation options and features sell better than lower quality files with less features” ...?
Less features doesn’t mean lower quality. This is a great misconception about stock files and unfortunately, this is what buyers think now. That’s why originality is almost dead on the marketplaces..

... so this is just a rant with no future.

Sounds more maturity. :D

I think BUYERS will decide when enough is enough. Recently I’m starting to hear things like “to many features” and “feature overdose” from them :D

Yeah, actually there is a habit of picking the items that does only specific things – as that will assure consistency. This is why search filter needs rebirth.

OK, let’s round this up because it created some confusion.

  • envato should delete all “simple” items (authors may be too in love with their items and hit the delete button will be too painful – so this job should be done by envato)
  • simple rule should be implemented where items need (depending of marketplace) to get accepted at least 500 icons, or 200 features, or 10 minutes of footage, or 50 music files or whatever similar option applies to each marketplace)

example:

your theme is great with a gallery and one or two nice features and also allow for “no pain” expansion with third party plugins? – DELETE IT! upload immediately a theme with at least 200 features and 100 plugins and gallery options.

example:

your videohive project is nicely done, 30 seconds long, with a clear structure and nice to the point assets? – DELETE IT! upload immediately a project with 500 different assets, 2000 unlimited customizations, virtually hours of content.

hope I was clear.

the word here is CONSISTENCY:

you want complex items envato?

great!

If item X has A and B features and cost 30$

then

item Y with A,B,C,D,E…X,Y,Z features should cost proportionally – 200$ – 1000$ whatever. NOT 45$ or whatever similar low price

@Doru, now it is very clearly confusing. :D

A buyer not necessarily utilize a heavy featured item’s all the features. It just helps the author to cover wider projects and buyers, that’s all. The extra values the buyers get are “choice” & combinations – not the quantity. This is why there is no linear price scales implemented for features.
