Web Design Layout Tutorials?

Do any of you know of any good tutorials focusing on the design of layouts? The templates being produced here are really nice! Did you guys learn from just playing around or what? thanks ahead of time.

Here and there I’ve read blog posts about design principals and layout but that was awhile ago. I mostly have learned from playing around, figuring out what I think looks good (and what other people think looks good) and evaluating what successful websites do. You might also think about grabbing a book or two off amazon to learn from and use for reference. I do that for coding stuff (bought a design book, haven’t had time to read it yet).

Long nights without sleep, plenty of mountain dew and coffee, and time seem to do the trick. In all seriousness, practice practice practice and time are the key in my opinion

When you feel comfortable enough in photoshop grab a few designs from other people and try to replicate them, just for a training of course.

If needed I could write a couple of tutorials about designing different type of layouts and post it on the blog. Will do that for sure on my future blog .

Check out the recent “Web Design Week” on PSDTUTS .com. Collis wrote some fantastic articles.
