VERY well-produced and engineered. Trailer music, by and large, is heading towards the cinemarocktronica genre (whatever that is
)
In my opinion, it’s MUCH more effective in 5.1 (or non-Youtube audio
) and tied with the images of the actual trailer.
Specifically Trailer 2 – http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/paramount/transformersdarkofthemoon/
Also, the mix is slightly different (and better) in the trailer than the version presented on Youtube.
Great advertising music, check out their library here http://www.pushermusic.com/
This marketplace is so crowded though, SO many companies trying to do this stuff and doing it very well.

Immediate – http://www.immediatemusic.com/
XRayDogg – http://www.x-raydogmusic.com/
Two Steps From Hell – http://www.twostepsfromhell.com/
And so on…. The problem with most of this stuff is that when everything is so loud and epic, then ultimately, nothing is epic at all..because there is no contour/shape. (That’s actually why this trailer works, because it’s edited and paced extremely well).
However, this stuff sells, so it will continue to be written…. Just my two cents

E.S. Posthumus also does a lot of really great work. If you have watched any Top Gear UK you’ll definitely recognize their work, since I am pretty sure they’ve used their whole library alongside the Dark Knight score to score their stuff these last few years.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TsI3gg5xHUIt sometimes gets into the whole being extremely loud and epic all the time thing that Gareth mentioned though.

Ah yes, how could I forget them! They’re pretty good, but I find a lot of their stuff is a bit cheesier than the other trailer music houses.

Yeah, theres only a few select tracks out of their albums that I really love.
I can’t stop listening to this Transformers track though… that groove at the beginning is freakin gold.
