It’s awesome the amount of people that want to make the transition to Themeforest. I already took that decision early this year and hopefully I will release my first WordPress theme on January 2014. For anyone who wants to get started in web development, I highly recommend Treehouse. I learned a lot with their courses. You can try them free for 14 days at https://teamtreehouse.com/subscribe/plans?trial=yes

If you think they worth the investment, you can use my referral link to get a 50% discount: http://referrals.trhou.se/davidossahdez

Note: I’m also a user of Tuts+ Premium, but I found that they lack a really important feature for beginners. When you are just starting, you want to know what courses you should take and in what order. Tuts+ has some amazing courses, but is up to you in what order do you take them. Treehouse offers something called Learning Tracks, which help you find your way through your learning adventure. In my opinion, it’s better to start with Treehouse and after that, switch to Tuts+ Premium for more advanced courses

Tuts+ Premium also offers this progression course suggestions via the “guides” – https://tutsplus.com/guides/

I tried Treehouse but i was getting very annoyed at the acting of one specific tutor, that was giving cheesy colgate smiles at the end of each explanations. It was funny the first time, then very creepy and off-putting. I thought the course looked nice but there was way too much special effect / staging etc when all you want is learn the code..

That said i am sure there are wonderful courses in there too!

My 2014 web dev resolution might be kinda ambitious.. :) I’m gonna build 12 free wp themes next year. One theme per month. Should be lots of fun involved :D Wish me luck!

I’ve already have a landing page for this, gonna release the full website @ jan 1, 2014. Don’t know if I’m allowed to share a link here on forums, so I won’t gonna do that – send me a quick message using the contact form on my profile page if you’re interested :)
