My friend has site which is almost 9gag.com clone, it has around 25k UU per month, earn around 350EUR from adsense, I know about another site with nothing but stupid images, with 700k UU per month, it doesn’t have adsense but some other ads and it earns at least 20 times more

He means in AdSense, you provide a “home” for relevant advertising to appear and in AdWords, you are the guy that want his stuff to be advertised on any relevant site.
