It’s just very frustrating because you feel like your out money. Now I’m looking for a different theme that I’m going to have to spend another $35 – $50 on.
But you’ve spend only $35 – $50 on theme, try to get theme made only for you , pay 100x more and you’ll also find bugs there. I think in almost each case, first 20 buyers are basically beta-testers, it’s just in hands of developers to fix all the bugs as fast as possible.

xstortionist saidto cut off one of their fingers for each bug found would be more effective.
We are the clients here, but when these bugs and errors come up, there are no suitable punishment for the authors. It would make sense that Envato would create some kind of 3 strikes and your out type of system or put the authors on some kind of 90 day probation where they aren’t allowed to upload themes for those 90 days. I really think that would get a lot of these poorly thrown together themes off the market.

I wanted to get angry with this but it’s better to ignore it.. that is why i replaced my comment with ….
The best thing you can do is let the developer know the bugs you have come across. That way they can investigate & fix the bug for you.

xstortionist saidNah, that’s being too nice. First take all their earnings and then cut of their fingers. That’s what the makers of anything buggy deserves. If they’re lucky. Oh and while we’re at it, why not make it illegal and a punishable crime.

Not all themes have bugs by the way. There’s just a increasingly amount of themes that I’ve purchased here recently are just not up-to-par when it comes to quality control.
There are themes that I’ve purchased that are great! Well thought out and put together, easy to read documentation, clean code, etc… They deserve a lot of credit for the amount of hard work that they put into their theme.
Now I’m going to give you an example of an issue I had not too too long ago with a file that I purchased.

See how the preview image shows numbered transition buttons? Well, I showed that to a client of mine, and that’s how he wanted his main slider.
I purchased the theme and guess what? Yep, no numbered buttons, yet the preview image advertises numbered buttons.
Support knows about this because we requested a refund, and the author knows about this as well, yet they do nothing about the issue. They just let the false advertisement of the product continue. It’s called being lazy guys and not caring if someone else purchases the item and goes “why did I just waste money on this?”
This is my frustration, even though this wouldn’t be considered a bug, but it’s the quality control. Nobody looked at these preview images before they were uploaded. Because if they did, they would have seen that it wasn’t representing what you would be purchasing.
I hope one day this is able to be addressed and fixed. I understand we are all humans and we all make mistakes, but when you are told about a mistake, you should fix it and not just let it slip through the cracks.

It seems to me that you understand people sometimes make mistakes, but the problem is mainly in how those mistakes are handled, and that every effort should be made not to make mistakes or at least fix them promptly. I completely agree with that too, and in most cases when you contact support with an “item is not as advertised” or “item has a bug” type of enquiry, support are happy to provide you with a credit refund and also contact the author to request a fix ASAP . If support haven’t done that for you, then simply reply and request that they do. They’ll be happy to either do that, or explain why it’s not necessary in this case and get back to you.
The support staff are very friendly, and always hope to get you a good resolution to your problem. I’d know, I used to be one of them

As an aside, after having a look at the live preview, there do appear to be slider button controls, so perhaps there is simply an option to switch that for numbered controls? It may be worth contacting the author via a comment on the item page about it or through the form on their profile page.

xstortionist, I have removed your preview image link because forum rules don’t allow calling out specific authors. If you have a problem with an item not doing something as advertised, contact support.
