iMac 21’5 – Late 2012 i5 2.7Ghz with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz

I love Apple brand! :) iMac is always top when it comes to beauty and passion. So all your After Effects projects made here? No plan to get a MacPro desktop?

I’m working on quite an old PC:
  • AMD Athlon X2 250 @ 3Ghz
  • 4 GB RAM
  • AMD Radeon HD 3200 onboard graphics
  • Gigabyte Motherboard (I don’t remember which one)
  • 500 Gb HD + external 1 TB
  • 24” Full HD Monitor
  • Windows 8 Pro OS

Using after effects is quite slow, but I have to earn to spend :-)

I have an Unraid Server with 8 TB storage.

Nice setup. Get a custom built PC or MacPro Desktop with CUDA graphics support is best After Affects projects. Btw, what can you on Windows 8? Is it better on Windows 7?

I like your laptop :) looks pretty awesome for high-end games. This laptop cost almost $2,000. Are you using it for After Effect projects?
Yes. After Effects works perfect on this. The only game i have on this lap top is Counter Strike : Global Offensive. Didn’t buy this lap top for games.

Cool. So you can work anywhere even in vacations. :)

Just upgraded my i7 PC with additional memory switched from 16gb to 32gb. It’s working definitely faster in AE 5.5 now but I wonder why AE still eat all available memory and it crashes sometimes when all momory occupied. :-( I specified to preserve 8gb for other apps in preferences but looks like it does not help for some situations.

Best Regards, Andrey

i7 + 32gb ram would be much better if they have video card with CUDA support. Better Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) is the most important part when it comes to creating heavy motion graphics (After Effects projects) and also better for rendering. That’s my next plan to get a new videocard with CUDA. Check out this info regarding CUDA technology

I more usually work with heavy video processing in the AE but probably it will benefit from CUDA as well.

Thank you for information GraphikoFX ! My current video card is pretty simple and probably it’s a bottle neck of the system.

Best Regards, Andrey

Heya Guys! I hope all is fine. I would like to know your computer specs . Here’s my current setup.

Processor : Intel i7-2600K 3.4GHz Sandy Bridge
CPU Cooler : Cooler Master V6 GT
Motherboard : ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional B3
Video Card : (2GB) 2x Sapphire Radeon HD6850 1GB 256bit DDR5
Memory : (16GB) 4×4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600
MainDrive (OS & Applications) : OCZ Vertex 4 512GB SSD
SecondDrive : Western Digital 1TB Black
ThirdDrive : Western Digital 1TB Black
PSU : Corsair Pro AX1200 1200W 80Plus Gold
Case : Cooler Master HAF X RC-942-KKN1 Black Steel ATX Full Tower
OS : Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Any suggestion for a good and reliable Videocard. I’m planning to change my v.card with CUDA support because my current Videocard now is not so good in rendering even my processor specially when a project is loaded of shadows, particles, lights and heavy plugins. :)

Wow, that actually is a pretty powerful computer… Mine is like 3 times less than yours. It is sad…

Looks like a beauty! Particularly like that it’ll take up to 32Gb of RAM and also the fans at the back. Mine is pretty decent, but if I’ve got a big project rendering, it can get crazy hot and has been known to shut down from time to time as it’s just too hot. I best those chunky fans will help with that!
