A few of my works (guitar) recorded with E-MU 0404, but I’m not satisfied with it’s preamps. And it is not comfortable to work with 88.2 kHz in pair with my laptop. So now consider the purchase something from Focusrite or Presonus model line

M-Audio Fast Track II sounds great as hell. I use that too. And on my main desk the M-Audio Profire 2626.

I’m using a Line 6 UX2 with no regrets. It also has cool VU meters to make it look extra retro, and worth the price alone! LOL

My M-audio profire doesn’t work too good in Lion. I get audio dropouts sometimes, though rarely. Leopard was so much better!

Exactly the same here with my M-Audio 1814. Even after updating the drivers for Lion, still occasional dropouts and weird digital distortions going on. Wouldn’t bother me so much if I was a dubstep producer

Presonus Firebox MOTU 8 pre RME UCX (very recent addition).
RME conversion was supposed to be an improvement over MOTU , but I honestly am not sure if I can hear the difference, and I wonder if the improvement people hear is mainly the quality of the preamps and not the conversion (I’m bypassing the preamps in favor of outboard pres, so this doesn’t apply in my case). Then again, I haven’t done any A/B comparison – maybe it would be more apparent if I were listening closely.
