Just guessing that sales volume its the main factor to make a file popular, if not please let me know, for example this file:

Pink floral tree Uploaded 06 February, 2 sales, no votes, no stars. popular

and mine:

Rainbow background pack Uploaded 27 February, 6 sales, 3 votes, 5 stars. NOT popular

I see some inconsistency across Graphic River items in general about that, however its my first uploaded item so maybe im missing something, being on frontpage>popular its a big plus for authors, the files have more exposure to potential customers so if some of the admins reads this ill appreciate a (small)explanation on how this works.

btw. nothing against the floral tree item, just an example to make my point.

Cheers.

You are looking at the popular files for last week (up to 23 Feb 09). Check below that listing and you will see that your file is listed in the “Last Three Months (up to 01 Mar 09)” grouping. Cheers!

It also counts for unique user purchasing the thing:
These sales values are calculated from the number of unique users who have purchased each file in the stated period. They will often differ from the number of sales listed on the item page as that includes repeat purchases of files by the same user.

I had the same with my item, bought twice, but it was bought by the same user, so it wasn’t popular.

Why would someone buy the same item more than once? Is there something in the license that limits the number of times one can use the purchase files or something?

I’m missing something here. Please enlighten me.

You can only use the file ONCE if you buy it ONCE . To use it again, you need to buy it again!

If a customer purchases something for use in a project, they are supposed to purchase it again if used for a different client/project. It’s called, Single Use Limited License. One day, there may be other licenses available (as discussed in other envato marketplace forums), but for now, there’s only a single use license. Hope that answers your question! :-)

Hmm, indeed, one use license :) But still, when I’m not allowed to use a file in a TF template, would I be allowed to use it in a design for a client?

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think thats the meaning of the Single Use License.

The way I understand it you can use a purchased graphic as much as you want but you are not allowed to distribute or give the graphic to anyone else. The term “single use” means only you can use the graphic. Thats why if you go to the “download” section on your account’s page you will see a list of previously purchased graphics and you can download them all over again for free.

Am I right?

@pairofdimez , ok maybe i didn’t was specific enough.

What’s needed to be on the frontpage popular files? only the old items are show(up to 23 Feb 09) and no new ones even if they have more sales, the same example i posted before applies.

The frontpage features items that were popular last week, up to feb 23. That was monday. What you need to do is get enough sales in the week from feb 23 to march 2 in order to get on the frontpage.
