I want to build a theme, but I want it to be easily used by customers – Recent trends show some hate for shortcodes and are in favor of general plugins to improve theme compatibility and ease-of-use. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks,
Jar

Hey,

I’ve developed my own shortcode manager and clients feedback is very positive and I can say that they really like it. Actually I’ve put it in a separate plugin and activate it with TGM.

By the way if you don’t have enough time to make yours, I’ve seen some good themes that are using ZillaShortcodes which should be a good alternative.

I hope this will help :)

Cheers,
Iman

Forgot to ask, but I remember there were some changes regarding using plugins from CC. Do I just need to purchase an extended license, or is it something that needs to be arranged with the author of the plugin now?

Aah, I’ve forgot to say that you can buy an extended license of Visual Composer and put your own styles on it. It’s a great page builder + shortcode manager as well :)

As far as I know, you should buy an extended license + give the author permission.

For CC terms vary…

if you go with visual composer. Keep in mind that you need to buy an extended license for every single theme you use it on that gets uploaded to themeforest.
