For HTML PHP JS and CSS , I’m currently using Dreamweaver but I’m tired of it. I usually have lots of files open at once and the thin bar at the top is very bad to navigate between them. I also do not use it for more than its syntax highlighing and text editing. The ‘Design’ part is useless, I’m not that kind of guy who inserts images and stuff by hand, visually…. I need it to be able to indent my code and highlight all syntax even if I have all kind of languages in 1 file. A PHP page containing HTML , JS and maybe some CSS is not unheard of
So what’s your weapon of choice? I want to try something different.
I just cannot help it, I have tried different IDE ’s Aptana seems the best.
But I just like to hand code still using editPlus

I’m on a pc, and i personally use Aptana. Many people say they don’t like it because its based on eclipse, but i think it’s pretty neat. Open source and highly customisable with both preferences and plugins.
Also, the recent purchase of aptana by appcelerator is a big plus because it will make developing titanium apps much easier. Aptana also fully supports PHP files with html, css and javascript.
EDIT : Hah! Ste beat me to the recommendation
Hi Reaper, yeah I gotta be quick when your around
I couldnt get into Aptana.
I totally agree its a cracking little tool, little being an understatement.
I suppose I just like to work wysiwyg style, and ftp as I go. Which editplus and me seem to work cohesively doing.
I must admit, my biggest failing is code layout, I do tend to align my opening and closing tags messily and my nesting at times is like a box of nails.
But I kinda like it that way ( albeit , frowned upon )
editPlus just does exactly what I need.
I havent personally used DW for years, but cracked her back open the other day, to convert a table to tableless divs, which is one of DW’s most underestimated features.
I personally do use Dreamweaver CS5 so I can’t be of much help. But I took a look at Aptana and it does look pretty solid. I might download a copy just to try it out.

I used to use Aptana on Windows and now I use Eclipse + plugins on Linux. Yeah, it’s a beast, but it runs well on Linux and provides some excellent features, so I stick with it.
