i’m just curious…
coz having to use Flash IDE for AS3 projects really makes me sick…..
i’m not talking about the editor but just of compile times: it takes ages to spit out the swf
i do all dev stuff using just open source flex sdk with fsch: first compilation is a bit slow since it’s java and it has to load all his things
(fcsh) mxmlc -target-player 10 -warnings -benchmark=true -incremental=true ..... Total time: 7370ms
but then it flyes
Recompile: /mnt/auto/backup/local.lan/www/flash/flashden/bitfade/intros/backlight.as Reason: The source file or one of the included files has been updated. ..... preview.swf (24013 bytes) Total time: 69msthat’s it, 69ms
...Some of the tools I’m using currently to compile a cupboard… but then again it’s not good for AS3 … still, I’m in a weekend mood so forgive my jesting.
edit: Up until now I used Flash for Drawing and the IDE for coding. Just started learning to use FlashDevelop, a bit complicated for me as a non-developer.
I think you forgot something:
I use Flash Builder
but for a free alternative you could check:
to use assets from flash ide you can create a swc file with those assets exported for use with actionscript then you include this swc in flash builder. If you have CS5 then you can directly use flash builder as a code editor for flash ide.
anyway you can download a trial so you can easily try this out.
