I have always had a hard time choosing/finding new icons to use and am interested in what’s out there. What’s everyone’s favorite icon pack?
ps. happy new years
For me its those tiny FamFamFam Silk icons that i have used many times on my projects
i always try to design my own , ...
most free icons packs that you find on the net are not licenced for commercial use !
also some authors here on TF are using them !
what do you think guys about this problem !?

i always try to design my own , ...If you see icons that you dont think are licensed for commercial use, you can always report the file, so I dont really think its a huge issue. Plus, you have to keep in mind that many people do contact the original authors/designers and ask if they can use their icons/images in a template.most free icons packs that you find on the net are not licenced for commercial use !

I have personally contacted over a dozen designers/authors/photographers when designing themes and most were more than happy to allow me to include them. Anyway, if you see what you think is a violation, by all means report it
To the OP- I dont have a certain free icon pack I use, I generally try to use minimal external resources and just find what fits best for the project at hand.
just want to say ” be carefull ” about this “free for personal use ” icons …
you can find this icons everywhere with diffrent decriptions and licences and sometimes the commercial licence is not cheap at all .
and sometimes you can’t find the real author of this icons.
look at deviantART: ( some icons packs are found in more than one portfolio..so who is the original designer? ).

For commercial use i like Fugue.
Copyrighted icon use is not an issue with TF since I see a couple of awesome themes containing my icon sets as well, they are all within written permission and credit.
I even ask for commercial licence buy if the icons are to be used as a containing element of a commercial product, only TF excluded =)

I use Everaldo’s Crystal icon set: http://www.everaldo.com/crystal/, they are licensed under LGPL . I think it’d be great if we had some icon sets in the assets that we could use in the templates.
