Hello fellow authors,
I’m thinking about changing web host to host my upcoming WP theme demos. Right now I’m using LaughingSquid hosting. It is very good and stable hosting, but not best solution for multiple WP installs with high traffic generated from ThemeForest because of very low database and computing cycles limits.
What about MediaTemple’s Grid Service? It looks pretty promising to me, but I’ve read some bad stories about it.
What do you use to host your demos?
It is very good and stable hosting, but not best solution for multiple WP installs with high traffic generated from ThemeForest because of very low database and computing cycles limits.
You should be using WP Total Cache so that pages are compiled once and stored for a period of time. for a demo, this could be days or weeks, since the content doesn’t change. In this case, database isn’t an issue.
This will help with computing cycles, yes, but it won’t solve an issue with number of databases. Right now I can have up to 5 databases.
You can put multiple Wordpress installs in the same database using different prefixes. The default is wp_ but you can change it in wp-config.php to wp0_, wp1_, etc.
LaughingSquid is actually a Rackspace Cloud reseller, so you could just go to Rackspace Cloud directly, and have unlimited databases. This is the hosting I use.
the best hosting i know.

@fillerspace thanks for the tip, I actually forgot that we can have multiple WP installs on single database
