These threads NEVER devolve into a developer flame war… ;) but… it’s vim! :D

It’s Emacs of course :)

phpStorm here – even when coding only HTML/CSS stuff. Brilliant IDE. Marco

Me too. Coding on it is faster than any editor I’ve ever used. Even with Sublime Text 3, which I use sometimes on “slower” computer.

Sublime Text 3 Another free option is http://brackets.io/ although I haven’t personally tried it.

I’m using Brackets and I must say I love it. I also love the fact that it’s Open Source which allows me to modify the code of the editor itself and customise it to my needs which is just perfect!

If you are a beginner, you can go for notepad++. It really helps you to recognise start and end tags and later you can switch to sublime text as it has many enhanced features.Adobe Dreamweaver is also fine. But you can enjoy the flavour of coding with sublime text for sure :)

Brackets.io I just started using this weekend (some may of seen me asking and testing many) – this is now my choice I love it – it’s clean, minimal, quick and live preview is pretty freakin awesome if you need / want it. Dreamweaver is just bloat and expense. Done with it after 10+ yrs.

Thank you for tip Jonathan – I’ve been playing with Brackets for a while and it seems to be exactly what I’ve been looking for! Nice minimal design and although I’ve been using LiveReload with other editors before, the ability to refresh the live site even without saving css is awesome.
