Was on Windows my whole life, transferred to linux a month ago, amazing change.

If you are a developer working with php all the time, do yourself a favour and go with linux, lamp is soo much smoother than xampp/wamp.

Font rendering too, amazing how smooth they are compared to Windows.

It has some disadvantages too though, like no proper Photoshop replacement (though it works with WIne, but not the same) etc.

I use Windows 8. I got a 2,8 ghz quadcore cpu, 8gb ram, 17” full hd screen.. It’s a laptop :>
I think you have purchased new laptop. Yeey i’m also using windows 8 on my new laptop with almost same configuration

It’s from 2012 and costed about 750 USD which is a good price for that kind of a laptop in sweden. =)

Thinking about buying a new PC (not laptop) with the latest hardware and use my laptop for my tv instead of the always so limited boxee box :)

Windows 8 – great window management that I just couldn’t duplicate on Mac. Snapping and app switching I find much easier – especially since I usually run lots of programs at once. Very stable OS as well.

Surprised to see that most users are using Windows!

I use windows myself, windows 7 to be precise. Not that I like it that much, but I’ve been using windows all my life basically. Design/Coding using Dreamweaver and Sublime Text 2 mostly, running a Wamp localserver.

But my low budget Asus is in need of replacement, and I am thinking of changing to MAC though. But still need some convincing..

Dont procrastinate, just do it.

Macs, super fast, super clean resolution. Easy and simple to do mundane tasks, no bloat.

I wish i had changed to mac years ago

I’m also surprised, I thought most people use Mac.
I was also thinking to switch to mac. But I find windows 8 is great.
All right Mac has good in graphics, but the only thing is missing in windows 8 is good terminals.

It’s important for me to use best development programs so I tested almost all of options and here is my final list:

  • Windows 8 (change to work like 7)
  • phpDesigner 8 (It’s perfect, you don’t use it because didn’t hear about it. Sublime is not good enough for me)
  • Notepad ++ (To review files fast. Sublime is another option)
  • FireFTP (Firefox add-on)
  • Wamp

    I’m using Windows.
I think, because from the first time I saw computers, I saw Windows working on them. But i would like to try the Linux. I have heard of it’s security and powers. :)
