Hey guys! I really want to start with making hybrid electronical trailers, too. Can you give me some advices which sound libraries are really good for something like this? (Concerning the electrical sounds, the string stuff is clear)

Have a nice evening/day! Crian

Always worth a look is 8DIOs hybrid line (Aura 1&2, Hybrid Tools 1&2) I recently got me Daniel James’ (Hybrid Two) Project Alpha, which is feckin awesome.

Also the samplelogic stuff is pretty neat for hybrid scoring, as is Heavyocity’s Evolve line and of course Damage.

This should pretty much get you covered :)

Heavyocity’s libraries like Damage for heavy hitting percussion. ProjectSAM Symphobia/Orchestral Essential (perhaps not that interesting considering you have the string sections already) or Sonokinetic Tutti for orchestral crescendos, clusters, fx and similar things.

This is also a good suggestion. 8dios libraries features a lot of arps, soundscapes and stuff.

Also, consider something like Omnisphere or the Komplete package where you’ll get loads of synths for deep basses, organic pads, textures and similar.

Wow, thanks for these fast and really good tips! I will definitely take a listen to these. 8dio sounds definitely quite good to me as I can tell from listening to some demos on youtube. Evolve also, really good stuff out there. Now I have to save a lot of money, haha. :) Are there also any libraries with good ethnical voice phrases like the ones you hear in Thomas Bergersen’s tracks? 8dio have 4 solo voice libraries at the moment, all pretty great. Also you could look at http://www.soundsonline.com/Voices-Of-Passion

Cheers JB

Yes, the libraries are quite costly. Crian, I have VOP (JBlanks posted about) and it has a lot of good phrases. It’s actually produced by Nick Phoenix, the other half of Two Steps From Hell. (Since you asked about Tomas Bergensen).

I don’t own the 8dio solo voices, but they do sound lovely. Might add them to my collection. Just feel I need to use my other libraries more first. Hehe.

Francesca/VOP really sound good to me. Is it possible to play own phrases or are there just some recordings? And if no is it easy to involve these done phrases into your work?

They’re just recordings of phrases. VOP has a few patches where you can play your own lines, but….they are not very good.

Forgotten Voices Francesca/Barbary/Terrie/Cait are all pretty great, but it’s an old Tonehammer library, and as a result – the library is not well-organised. For example, you have to do a lot of auditioning to even find a phrase that fits the key of your work. Sure you can use the pitch-bending features as well, but the Forgotten Voices libraries are not easy to use. You generally have to compose around the vocals – which is not the way it should be.

Don’t get me wrong, they are GREAT recordings, but the Kontakt scripting is very….2009!

On the other hand, if you want something easy to use – you should also look at Sonokinetic Aliye and Sonokinetic Rojin.

Aliye – http://www.sonokinetic.net/products/ethnic/aliye/

Rojin – http://www.sonokinetic.net/products/ethnic/rojin/

These libraries are similar to Forgotten Voices – but they make it MUCH easier to integrate into your music, as in the Kontakt interface you can change the key of some of the phrases – and they recorded different phrases for different keys. Plus, they are tempo-synced.

I particularly like Aliye – they really captured a powerful vocal – and if you put her voice through a nice reverb, it really sounds phenomenal.
