The big question! When I purchase a item and it seems that the file is broken, corrupt or contains a virus! Who is responsible for this? The author, because he published it! Or Envato?

“in my case it is about a file that contains a virus! It is off course a possibility that the virus warning is false alarm by the virus scanner. But never the less I can not download the item I just purchased!”

I looked it up in the FAQ, but did not found anything!?

Cheers,

Marawa

don’t know about responsibility but I think you should contact envato support and let them check the file.

And Envato support is extremely slow in my opinion

So that’s the reason I asked the members of this forum, I suppose there would be someone who experienced the same or similar problems?

all items the buyers download are checked by envato staff. I’m sure one step they do is to verify that the file is clean and doesn’t have viruses or other type of mallware.

the author flagged your comments because he may lose sales when there’s a possibility his item has no issues

What if is just your antivirus heuristic search set too high? The antivirus think certain PHP or Javascript functions (I’m assuming is wordpress theme) are a threat where there’s no problem.

The big problem here is envato support reaction time.

what is the antivirus message?

All marketplace files are checked before publishing; I’m sure you will never download a virus instead of useful product.
If the product is harmful you can get a refund and author income will be frozen.

If you’re not even able to download the file, then that’s an issue with your anti-virus software… and that’s your responsibility!
