I am with solo and chuck on this one. Why on earth would you get upset over someone trying to promote your files? Do you know what companies pay for exposure like that? Solo is just promoting FD, bringing more buyers, and in turn making us all more money. Thanks Solo, great work.

Ok, :-), more practically:

If solo1artist quit his blog all his traffic to flashden stops forever… which is the advantage of this for the authors?

You lose traffic to your file and sales just because what?

Make your own traffic with a blog to your files and make money with referrals… let solo1artist make traffic to your files and you’ll make money from the sales that he generates

your referrals earnings + sales + sales from solo1artist > your referrals earnings + sales

:-)

But in all truth I think it’s the emotional aspects of knowing that someone took your creation and is making money of it by promoting without the courtesy of letting you know that does feel a little off sometimes.. that’s the human nature part..

I disagree, I’m sorry… so you’re saying that all the links in the world wide web to a flashden file have to be managed by the author? This is crazy…

Ok, today there are 90000++ registered users here…. they are buying files here and they are buying also your files… maybe without referrals the registered users were 45000—... so 50% less sales for you…

we just need to thank people like solo1artist for promoting the community and making it bigger and bigger…

But this is my opinion, so… :-)

Of course I agree with you :)

I was just trying to illustrate that little inkling of human factor that can feel as though another individual is using one’s work to generate more income of which the creator sees naught. It’s the glass half empty view, and dare I say the selfish/jealous ego at play

It’s completely rational to understand why no wrong is done when people use blogs or other allowed means to promote FD files and make a cut from the advertising, and the positive side is that it gets more sales for buyers and grows the community, yes. However, taking the time to let the author know ( not out of obligation) is tantamount to thanking them for having given the referrer the opportunity to earn referral money for themselves too.. It’s good for karma if anything :P That’s all.. :)

Hey guys,

Just reading over this thread, I just wanted to throw my opinion out there.

While I completely understand not wanting another person to post your stuff on Adobe Exchange. You are only permitted to upload you own works there, and when someone does that they are stealing a potential revenue source from you. It makes sense.

But regarding people blogging about your items, does not make any sense to me why that would be offending. I noticed some people stated “you are making money off work that is not yours”. But the person doing the blogging is not taking credit for your work. If anything this should be a large compliment. They are putting your work out there for being great quality, and pushing your name as an artist.

While yes, they are making referral money. Without that referral click, you probably would not have had that specific sale. Even if that sale found its way to you on its own, without the referral. Its not like thats referral money you would have recieved. You still make nothing more than your commission. So whats the harm in someone else getting some as well. They are pushing more traffic to you, and benefiting at the same time. I would be honored if I found someone posting my stuff on their blog. If they made a killing off referrals, I would be glad that my work could help them out financially, while also boosting my sales.

On that note, if anyone has a blog and wants to post some links to my videos, please feel free ;)

I totally agree with solo on this one. He is promoting your items for free and you get upset :) I would like my items to be promoted by anyone with any referral links..everyone wins. I win sales and he wins referrals. It’s a nice trade to me :)
