I’d expect more if the competition was run by Envato, but for them as a company to just accept some award ‘ceremony’ that took place in the forum… which was neither authorised, promoted or judged by them… I wouldn’t expect them to give anything as a prize!
However, as a pretty forward thinking company that appear to value their staff, I’d like to think that they all get rewarded on a daily basis due to the company ethos and values… and I’d be surprised if they didn’t have some kind of employee reward and recognition system. In the off-chance that they don’t, then maybe I could send some tea, biscuits and pube-free treats to Envato HQ, and they can forward them to Carmen. Like an Elite Care Package but in reverse, for an Elite staffer.
I completely agree with you and I’m sure that they have a good employee reward system. But this is not about who’s the best one from the point of view of the company.
This is just to let us know who’s the favorite staff from authors point of view. it’s completely just for fun And surely it’s not accurate as there are some great people behind the scene that we don’t even know their usernames.
Maybe it’s better to change the topic to “Choose Your Favorite Envato Staff Who is Active in Forums.”
About the reward, I think a cup of tea and biscuits are good but it would be great if we have a new badge something like “Community Superstar” such as “Envato Celebrity”, “Most Loved Staff” or something like that.
What’s your opinion?
Sure, I see what you’re saying. But it’s kind of like some random people stood outside your house looking into your garden… voting which of your cats they like the most and then knocking on your front door, telling you “Hi. One of your cats has been voted the best out of all your other cats. You now need to buy that cat a present. Come on then, hop to it!”
Yes, we aren’t exactly strangers knocking on Envato’s door and the whole idea is nice… but you can’t just expect Envato to accept that one member of the community has started a poll, a bunch of other people joined in, a winner has emerged… and now Envato have to reward them because of that. I mean, if we voted on our least favourite member of staff, would you insist that Envato fire them?!

Agree with StencilMedia’s cat example. Also wanted to point that no two staffs doing here exactly same kind of job – so actually there is not even much room for comparison.
