You can have a delicious meal here (New Delhi) for 40 rupees which is 0.73 dollars.
Accommodation can be as low as $5 a night.
So yes, plenty of money in Indian terms

^ Hotel room prices depend on quality and availability (also the location). I remember spending around $30 for reasonably hygiene room for just a night stay.
