If I dont understand a plug ins function fully, and the author has little or NO tuts for it..I dont buy, and this is because I have bin asked for access to configure. Im not comfortable giving that out so I usually just except the loss and move on. Now Im in the habit of waiting for others to comment on the item I want to see how its handled and wether the person explains or says “contact me in MY forum”. which to me is not helping sales from the “relunctant to buy” folks. Lots of times I find my answer in comments ..then purchase! eitherway…aint handing out my PW for a 10 buck plugin

I admire those that make wormpress themes and there are a billion great sites using it.

There is nothing wrong with disliking WordPress, but I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who says it is a crap system. Statistics and many, many other factors say otherwise.

What makes you think I was talking about you? Relax, everyone has the right to their opinion
P.S.: the OP is why do people use WordPress. Not if we like it or hate it.
P.S. 2: What Pippin said.
Lol apologies .

Easy, cheap, fast
But the real question should be asked is why do people use php ? It’s a terrible language.

moot.
all cms’s have these same security issues.
if there was a way around it, wp would do it.
i don’t use wp on any personal sites, I use a custom cms that edits via a restful api. no database on client site, just read/write html. other devs can have full access to my sites but never ever possible access the actual cms/database, because it’s on a completely different server. utterly horrible to implement, but one way around these “include” password issues.
but i do like WordPress. customers find it so easy to use (compared to the other popular ones).

Haha RimV, good point you make there.
But it’s not as if ActionScript is much better. .NET FTW !
