My recomendation is to take it slow. First of all, rejections are an awesome way to learn and that ensures that at Videohive the people only will find good quality products. Also, it is not only know how to use After Effects. The software it’s only the tool. The secret is the artist behind. Study basic design principles. Composition, appeal, timing, color theory, rule of third, typography. These areas, plus a couple more, will create a solid foundation in what things are considered good to look at and what don’t.

Don’t compare your quality with any other projects at Videohive. Do your best and take the time to make a good quality product. After you master all those things, the review process is more for legal issues with copyright than the quality, because a well designed project can’t be rejected without a solid argument.

At last but not least, look for reference and see what the best motion designers do. Don’t look reference for copy the style or the idea itself, look for motion, composition, how the camera moves, how about the timing between transitions, easy ins and easy out, camera angles, sound (that is a vital part of a motion project) and so on.

Hope that this helps.
I’m a graphic and motion designer. Actually, just starting at Videohive, just like you. And that is the path I’m taking to be sucessfull in this marketplace

EDIT: By the way, take a look at this. One similar idea with buildings but pushed to the next level. Hope this inspire you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC7fCpX9fZU

Hello. All of this is correct. We must strive for the best. I also want this and I will do everything for it. Nevertheless, we must admit that VideoHive, as well as elsewhere, sold files are very different quality, content, design, duration, and more. We must not forget that in addition to art, people still need to earn money to buy food and the internet. All things may not be the best.

Visually this looks dated.
Maybe leave it on the shelf for a year or two and it’ll turn “retro”. :-)

It already is, I feel like I just went through a time machine.

Hello, all! Please tell me, this is also the worst of all the projects that are sold on Videohive? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfvCD7YNFdo I’m not saying that this is a work of art, but this project is also rejected in a standard way, as almost all of my work, including a lot of my files, 3D animation.

It’s too simple. And looks old, like from 90-s…. Camera movements very rough, background is too empty, fonts….

I didn’t surprised, that it was rejected. It’s possible to improve this item, but it wont be easy….

Thanks for the advice. I do not want to redo it and do not regret that deleted it. I asked the other: ” this is also the worst of all the projects that are sold on Videohive?”

My answer to you is : it simply doesn’t matter.
Maybe there are worse videos out there, Envato is looking forward.
Put the past in the past, focus on making new stuff that level up to the latest projects in the hive :)
