The rating system on all marketplaces here sucks big time. As a developer I like to know the reason when someone gives a bad rating so I can improve my product.

For example a five or four star rating is ok and should not need any comments, but if someone decides to give a 3 or lower star rating he/she would need to comment his/her rating and the owner would see the comment so he/she can actually improve his/her product.

What do you think?

Totally agree.

The comment may have anonymous, but we should know why the buyer gave the rating.

Not a problem if it is anonymous, but we need to know why!

I agree.
When I had about 8 ratings, I had seven 5 stars and one 4 star. So my rating was well. But then somebody rated me with 1 star… it ruined my total ratings… I believe it’s some jealousy or something else.
But anyway My ratings got bad bad.

As far as I know there was an internal test once when buyers was giving comments to their raiting, but this comments were visible only for Envato staff.

But I never heard of results of this test or any further information.

Especially, a one star rate it keep me wondering what I do wrong because there is no problem sent to me while the rest are all rate at 5. That one star just ruin it all. :|

We’ve been nagging for this item feedback addition for a few years now. Guys, you already take 49% of our profits, why not give us what we need? just saying.

(2 years for the star ratings breakdown was one hell of a quick response :D )

Cheers !

This one hell of a over discussed topic. I think envato is fully aware of these complaints about ratings from authors. Although I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
