Jus out of curiosity, aren’t Unity and Adobe Director kind of the same things? So why did Unity become more “popular”? At least here on Envato.

I take it you have not used director?
Hehe, not exactly. Try them both and you’ll understand.
Seems director has been discarded by Adobe ? ,they don’t popularize it, they just need one thing – flash ,or maybe director is hard to learn ? lingo + JS ?
I haven’t used any of them actually
. But the results seem pretty similar. They’re both browser based, and both of them can do some really cool things. So I take it that Director is a lot more complicated than Unity?

director have been around from like 1985
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Director
but is dying, off course because adobe don’t invest in it.
Part of unity success is the simplicity of importing assets 3d or other types by simple drag and drop, multiple languages that can work together, solid framework and other details. Is unity perfect? No. They just invest some more money and knowledge into it. Director could had been the same or more powerful than unity by now but the corporate business states that if you can’t make 20 billions from every piece of software, why bother?

If you find someone who can do anything close to this with director and I’ll set your commission rate to 200%.

By the way, make sure you wait through all the preloading (it’s a little confusing as to whether the helicopter is it or not) and play the game.

You would be surprised what you can do with director. I have seen similar games to that made with director, but not quite as nice looking.

Wow. I really like the depth of field effect while zoom. Overall graphics are awesome, it needs hard machine resources though, i can hear my laptop suffering. Still playing.

Can someone post the best game ever made with Director? I’d like to see it. Then we can compare it with Unity…
Seriously
, Director?
