Hey JStudio – good for you stepping up confessing this ‘heinous’ crime… Here’s a few of my suggestions (alternatives for nice) just mix them up a bit and everyone will be happy(er) ;-)

Cool, audacious, impressive, outstanding, great work, different, original, fantastic file, WoW, good work, congrats, stylish, useful, great idea, scrumptious, terrific, brilliant, spiffing what old chap?

(ok I just read a Stephen Fry book, may explain some of those and the wryness of this post)

The issue is not about repeatedly using one word comments but the intention towards spamming for self promotion. I think it is fine to use single word if the item really impressive enough to make you type. Not necessarily for all the 30 items in the recent page.

i think several ppl need to actually read through this thread properly, this has nothing to do with a persons choice of vocabulary its the motivations ppl have for their so called ‘constructive’ comments. AKA self promotion

People aren’t complaining about positive comments. They’re complaining about obvious and deliberate spam. I think the issue is getting mixed up because said spam gets packaged in the form of a seemingly innocent compliment.

Nobody likes spam… so if you’re going to do it, just don’t make it so obvious :)

Has anyone givien any thought to the notion that his intentions may have been to give a compliment. Lighten up people! If leaving a comment is to be construed as self-promotion then it seems there are a lot of self promoters here on FD. Sorry, but this thread is based on suspicion, not fact. Posting “nice” on another authors file should be seen as mutual respect! Recently an author did reccomend his file in the comments of another authors file, even had a link too. Now that’s self-promotion! Obvious and blatant. Like saying this file “sucks” buy mine instead.

Threads like this could make everyone(buyers and authors) hesitant to even take the time to leave a comment, or suggestion. I would think the simple”nice” comments are prefered over long sentences, or whole paragraphs.

People don’t sweat the petty stuff, instead, pet the sweaty stuff :) Besides don’t you authors have better things to do like designing more files for me/us to buy;)

the guy commented nice on a file preview that wasnt even working, id say thats pretty obvious self promotion….bit hard to say ‘nice’ even in a harmless way to a file you cant even see and if it makes ppl think alittle bit longer and harder before plastering their opinions over ppls files id say that can only be a good thing.
