I’m using Windows 8 since the first developer preview (November 2011), and it is just great! Much better, simple, stable and FASTER than 7. And for the (almost) one year of using, I did not notice ONE compatibility problem. Just, great!![]()
same here very satisfied. But if you are coming from Mac then first try trail version before buying.

I use it professionally, and have been using it since the “upgrades” appeared. I strongly recommend you do a clean-install of win8, not an upgrade from win7, as 1 it takes longer to upgrade lol and 2 there are, as with any “seamless upgrade system” from Microsoft, some issues that only hit you in the back of the head once it’s done. Either way, I noticed a bump in performance of a (subjective) 20% on the same laptop and workstation compared to windows 7. Of course, I first upgraded the laptop though, just to make sure I had no software issues
What I can tell you from my 1-2 month experience with it (daily between 8 – 14 hours) is that it’s stable as hell, I love the multi-tasking (there is an illusion of yet another level of multi-tasking, as you’re switching from the “normal” desktop to the metro ui, or one / many of its applications). Boot times are (objectively, i.e: measured) 40% lower than on win7. Only thing I recommend though is to check up on driver support if you’re building a custom machine with really high-end workstation hardware, as those tend to lag a bit behind the consumer-goods in terms of updates, and it could make for a few headaches.
Regarding Software Compatibility, I tried the cinema demo, works great (last revision), same goes for the Adobe products. Regarding gaming, I’ve only tried League of Legends, and Counterstrike, and I don’t know about BF, but my guess is there shouldn’t be any issues
Hope this helps
Installed Win 8 on my PC. Been using my Mac Pro ever since.
