I’ve used “Members Only” at it’s most basic usage, hiding my demo sites behind a login until they’re ready to go but I know it has many more options than the 1% I use.

Yeah as Cudazi said, check over on codecanyon in the wordpress plugins section, I wont link to it but there is one that looks pretty promising for what you need.
