Hi There,

As the title says. It would be great to see more Wordpress websites with built in landing pages with the same quality as the templates that are currently in the ‘Marketing’ category. Would be willing to pay more for them too, because they add great functionality for selling products and services.

At the moment this is the only thing I am missing in most themes. Otherwise I think all Authors do excellent jobs and the quality of the works seems to be improving every year.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you :)

Greetings – we are already looking in to this kind of thing (have for some time now) but not really sure what users would want in terms of being able to administer the page – generally the landing pages available in the templates section have many different areas that are inserted in the code as modules so you can easily move them around or just delete them and as landing pages have so many sections in them I’m kind of finding it a little difficult to work out how best to give this power to the user.

We could certainly add a admin section panel to control the content / title / logo / product images etc – would you think this works? Otherwise it’s basically a full width page that you then use widget areas to create the sections and content via html and short codes and could prove troublesome for some non tech savvy users – any thoughts and feedback is more than welcomed!

Hi Jonathan,

Great to hear that you are already busy with the landing page-web concept, I’m excited to hear that! Can’t wait to see the first results…

As for building the landing pages within Wordpress sites, I can imagine it would be difficult to organize the pages. I think the short-code option would work best, but I’m not a technician so I don’t know how or if it’s be possible to achieve that. You would probably need some extended documentation to explain how it works for non tech savvy users (like myself, most of the time).

I do think the landing pages should bring a little bit of magic to the theme and differentiate a little from the rest of the pages. They should spark enthusiasm with the buyer, persuade and make them convert . Not sure what the best way would be to do that, but hopefully you get what I mean. :)

Thanks for your quick reply and let me know what you think. Looking forward to seeing your latest work!

Good luck

In my themes, I add a feature called the Canvas page, a blank template that you can modify.

It has its own menu and you can use shortcodes as well. Example: http://fullfeature.turkhitbox.com/canvas-page/

And of course any theme has a full width page that you can use short codes on but that kind of defeats the object in question here which is to provide a dedicated landing page which is a very targeted beast.

This is why I have struggled with what freedom to give or not when it comes to setup – landing pages are designed with reading patterns, call to action areas well defined and positioned – there’s quite a bit of science behind a layout and thus leaving it to a user who may not be well versed in this will lead to a landing page disaster – hence my issue with everything being a short code setup… hmm.. well we can but try one way and see what we get as feedback – thanks to @koelkast for the post though as it gives me some feedback and it’s along the thoughts I already have which is basically it should be an easy process for users to just set text / titles and images etc rather than having to “construct” the entire thing themselves.

Hi there,

I just wanted to add to this story by saying I also really like the concept you did with the Oceanic-products. Making complementary products and add-ons for themes is a great feature I think, because the branding doesn’t change, so you don’t have to grab different files from different Authors with different ideas and designs. This saves a lot of time. I think you are the only one who has done this, but I really would like to see this become a regular feature for all themes. Maybe this deserves it’s own thread…

ssshh… ;)

I actually want to offer “packs” where you het landing page / email / wordpress in one pack but not allowed to do that here – well I can but it would not get priced correctly which is rather disappointing because I think it’s perfect.

Mostly you don’t find other authors doing this because landing pages and emails are very different to wordpress development etc – we are just lucky that between myself and my coder (my wife) we cover all these so we can produce “collections”.

Anyways, so happy you noticed that ;)

Haha, I will keep quiet then! Good work needs to be appreciated. Sounds like a great situation for you and your wife, hopefully you can work something out with Themeforest in future.

Shame because there is money to be made for Authors and great benefits for buyers and re-sellers like me. That’s the only thing I’m missing. It’s like tying all the individual elements from Themeforest together into one big ‘Value Package’ (Wordpress Site, Landing Page, Email, Newsletter etc.) with add-ons and updates (paid optionally).

Because that’s what Webdesign is all about really imo. A website is a means to an end (selling products) for me and for my customers. That’s where the real value lies. Of course a great website is a necessity for great impressions, branding, image, should have good navigation, great copy. But you need calls to action and clear goals as well.

Great Authors/designers know this and keep this in mind when designing a new website. Again this is where the true value of websites lie today, because websites can become selling machines if done correctly. Of course you have to do SEO etc, but the website should already have the basic elements to facilitate this function (like landing pages etc). I’ve read a great book on this topic, i’ts called: Convert! (It’s on Amazon) Don’t know if you’ve heard of it, but I can really recommend it.

You and your wife are obviously already aware of the opportunities and that’s great. I think this could/should be the next step for Themes on Themeforest. I’m very excited because I have a feeling there are great things ahead for us all on Themeforest. It’s such a great platform and brings so many talented people from around the world together.

Well that was a very long piece of writing.. Hope I didn’t bore you to death with it :)

Would like to hear your opion(s) on the matter (if you have one of course).

Cheers!
