There are good CMS’s out there besides WordPress, but it’s hard to compete with the quality of WordPress community, that’s what made WordPress so popular.

I hope it will only continue to grow in the coming years.

WordPress is a mainstream CMS juggernout (18.6%) with lots of users and it’s untouchable at the moment. ModX is a small project gaining ground and fighting other systems for what is left from WordPress.

If you want to create themes for WordPress, you’ll have to be really creative and add value or go niche to stand out from the crowd, whereas ModX is a new CMS and market is not so saturated, but not nearly as massive as WordPress…

Agree. I love Joomla! but I need to say WP provides something that user really loves: easy-to-use administrator.

I think Ghost is closer to compete with WP more than any other CMS. Ghost is for blogging but remember that first WP versions were for pure blogging.

Let’s see how the users reacts to the new CMSs.
