I just came across this site today and am looking to purchase something. I’m a little confused about all the different options. What is the difference between wordpress themes vs. site templates? If site templates are not compatible to upload for wordpress, how are we customizing these templates?

All depends on your skills. WordPress are the best option because are fast to install and customice the content. Site Templates are slow and you need to know how to customice the code (javascript, css, html).

Thank you for the responses. So are these site templates something that can be opened in a program like Dreamweaver and edited or are they only for people who are familiar to writing code. In other words, can they be worked on with a WYSIWYG program?

Honestly, if you dont know how to code (WYSIWYG is not coding), you ll be more safe with WP theme.

If you just want a theme “as is”, just adding your content, site template can be ok. If you want to customize, it s always better to understand what you are doing, or get help from someone who know how code is working, if you want some functionnalies not included in the template. Many templates come with lots of design/functionnalities options though, so just check the demos to see if it will fit your project.

Wordpress will take you some time to understand how it works, but customization is usually made eaiser by authors (with options) and you can add plugins for almost everything.
