Work in progress, looks wrong somehow but cant put my finger on it

Hi, I’m working on a new portfolio wordpress template for TF and I’m using a number of colour schemes from colorlovers but I’m thinking something looks wrong but I just cant see it so maybe fresh eyes will:

It needs more contrast and something else for the logo.

I want to keep the logo as type for the time being as more people are likely to want to just have their name there rather than having to use a logo (obviously I’ll add the options to add a logo), for the name though I’m not sure about red, it says in the colour scheme its ok but not totally sure.

Maybe some content separators for side columns (for shop). Just some thin lines, or other colors. btw, content is great!

contrast is a bit better now, but still… white text and beige subtitles are still far away from being contrasted to the background.

Definitely needs more contrast… white text on a tan background is a nono for readability.

Lots of details seem to be missing.. where’s the rss icons? Where’s the search form? No bullet icons, just a faded twitter bird.

Again because there’s no contrast nothing stands out as important. Not even the header. And nothing has bullet icons which I think would add a little detail.

And a plain text logo is just being lazy.
