Hi Balistique, I’m using SSD for a system drive. The model I’m using is Corsair F120 . It’s capacity is 120GB and the transfer speed is 285mb/s read and 275mb/s write speed. I have to say that it is lightning fast. My windows loads for a 10 seconds after the BIOS check and all the softwares install times faster as well as launch time for any software. It gives great performance. I recommend everybody to get SSD for a system drive it really increases the speed dramatically.

but I need more. Well not as a system disk, I just wanna use for reading the all project elements (pictures, videos etc.)

Well there i suggest you to use a raid 10 which means 4 HDD connected so for example if you have 4 disk x2TB each you will have 4TB + mirror so all your projects will be safe and your write/read speed will increase up to 150-200mb/s using this type of raid. SSDs are too expensive at this point and it will cost you a couple of thousands dollars to get a 1TB of SSD . Hope that helps.

You could always have a second 100gb “current project” and scratch disk that’s an SSD .
If you have a big 5 TB drive, most of it is being used for storage most of the time.
I don’t have many individual projects that go over 100gb… the only ones that do are where the original footage is shot at HD / 4K and then converted to dpx sequences. But then I work pretty much exclusively on short form stuff.

I see, I’m already work on raid 0 (4×1tb sata 2 hhd) but I need more speed. I don’t need 1tb ssd. 60-120 gb enough for me cuz I have planing only use in the making process of the projects. when project finished I’ll move another storage. and yes your info helped to me Thanks Bro

hah good work… working on 500gb ssd for my main work computer… would love to get one on my laptop to save battery life and be extremely fast but I also need a new laptop so i’m torn.
