It would be ok because I’ve used plug-ins that list items like that, for example “Nivo Slider Plugin”. The images are just there in their img tags, not even in list items.

So if you are using that plugin, just state that the plugin uses that markup just in case.

If I were a buyer looking at such a theme, I’d worry more about having alt tags on those images, instead of code semantics. I don’t think it’s poor HTML , it will validate and I don’t see a reason to reject a theme because of this.

However, is it that hard to modify that plugin to output an ul with list items for each slide? If you manage it, if I were you I’d go the extra mile and adjust it myself ;)

EDIT : what plugin are you working with?

there will be alt tags but the supersized

and guys I know how to code it properly thats what I was asking Im still trying to get the plugin to work in a list but it currently only switching between to images

Edit: This works with the demo in the download for the plugin…

the html:
<div id="supersize">
    <ul>
        <li>
            <a href="http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/details/1819/bird_on_a_branch.html"><img title="Bird On A Branch" src="images/bird.jpg" /></a>
        </li>
        <li>
            <a href="http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/details/988/paradise_lost.html"><img title="Paradise Lost" src="images/paradise.jpg" /></a>
        </li>
        <li>
            <a href="http://interfacelift.com/wallpaper_beta/details/1864/morelia_viridis.html"><img title="Morelia Viridis" src="images/snake.jpg" /></a>
        </li>
    </ul>
</div>
And before initializing the plugin:
var html='';
$('#supersize li').each(function(){
    html+=$(this).html();
});
$('#supersize ul').replaceWith(html);

Hey guys,

As far as the Site Template category is concerned, I was asking authors for a certain period of time to do their best to use lists in situations such as this. However, it seems there are so many plugins that do it similarly to this that I’ve relaxed on it a bit.

If you can use a list, please do. If this is the only thing that would hold your template from approval, I’ll still approve it as long as it validates.

Now, if there’s something that’s not a slider or that can easily be put in a list and should be, then I’ll ask you to fix it. :)
