who would want more communication with buyers? I get enough of that every day :-P

that said it would be cool if buyers could subscribe to an authors updates so when a file is updated, the reviewer can send an email to all those who have opted in.

if you want to know who’s bought your file just provide him with a reason to tell that to you.

For example. make some intentional bug in the item, bug that can’t be detected by the reviewer (else your item will not get approved), but that bug should drive the buyer crazy and contact you about the issue.

Then you just ask for forgiveness for the “mistake” you’ve made, and provide him with a update. Mean time you get to know who it is.

There’s a “small” chance that the person will never buy anything from you in the future, or, this will happen more rarely, come back after you to kick your butt. But this its a small price to pay for knowing who bought your files.

As a buyer, a very bad idea! Comments like this just take down your credibility (and sales for sure)...

If someone is tracking me down with my items bought I definitely will fly away from here. As a buyer, if someone wants to know my opinion and what sales good, just ask! I always comment on the files I purchase here to let the authors know what I think of the files, so guess they can contact me through my postings.

I don’t know why there is to many authors here interested in strategies or mechanisms to get more sales. Besides the obvious, just keep on with the good work!

yeap but not so bad for the seller who want to know who bought his files.

Anyway, don’t care about sales, but maybe you don’t know what’s a joke.

Did you ever think for a moment that I (the author of that message) ever considered for a moment to intentionally insert a bug in my file? To obtain what? Stalking from the buyers? Less the buyer contact me after they bought one of my file, better it is. That tells me that my file was well understood, it function properly and they had no problem in using it.

Next time I will make a joke on this forum I will write a big disclaimer message to people who don’t get it. Or maybe I should not write on this forum anymore. I think that’s a more intelligent way of doing things.

I’m in no need to see the sites build upon my themes, simply because i don’t want to get a stroke seeing what some of these buyers did with my theme.

If the file contains any images, using a reverse image search engine like tineye might bring up some users. Just don’t be surprised if the number of results will be higher than the number of sales! :P

with lots of work a lil humor and fun is very essential

and at this place it is must

you should not get very serious about every thing :P

And @ the topic

author should include a surprise banner in the main fla saying

“You got a free file of $* please contact author of this file to claim your prize” :D

That’s really bad advice, doru, please don’t suggest that authors should upload items with intentional bugs. That would really kill the integrity of the marketplace.

It is really scary to see how much people lack the sense of humor.
Come on guys, how old are really you ? is this the first joke you’ve seen on a forum ?
Should jokes have always a : :) or ;) or :D smiley ?
Man… it’s really scary because people who are supposed to be in art field (visual or audio) don’t have imagination and common sense to discern jokes from serious talk.
