Hey all,

Thank You!

David and Hayley here. We’re behind dtbaker. :) 1 year ago on the 18th of June 2009 we made our very first earning from ThemeForest

$2 !

Since then we have slowly built up our portfolio to where it is now with 28 ThemeForest themes and CodeCanyon PHP scripts.

A huge thank you to all the buyers out there who have helped us get to where we are over the past year. Hats off to the envato dev team, reviewers, management, etc.. who keep this online monster running from day to day, you’re the best!

Some numbers

Here’s some numbers for those thinking of becoming an author on an envato site. Back when I was thinking of becoming an author I couldn’t really find anything like this, so hopefully this will help others who are trying to decide:

Over the past 327 days I’ve recorded how many hits our items have received: 136728 unique viewers! Wow!. Rough browser break down of hits (not unique): Firefox = 179366 Safari = 74046 IE7 = 10804 IE6 = 3381 IE8 = 24514 Opera = 5218

Receive about 4 support emails or comments a day. Most are with the PHP scripts.

Our highest ever earning day was a week ago with $159.64 The average is around $70. If you take this as a wage – this pays for about 1 hour each per day answering support and working on new items.

This is how fast we have moved up the earning rate, people with more items would move a lot quicker! Currently at 53% with about 20 days to go before our next paw ! Yippeee! (2 new items this week should help us get there quicker)

Our highest month ever was 470 sales. That’s about 15 sales every day of the month!

So if you’re thinking of becoming an author, this should help you decide if it’s worth it! I think it certainly is!

And for those authors who are having troubles getting your item approved, put it aside and work on another item! And another! You’re items will get rejected, just as some of ours did. Don’t let it upset you, just move on to the next idea :)

Hope you enjoy the numbers!

Thanks for a wicked year and can’t wait for the next one.

Cheers,
us

ps: mods if any of the information above needs to be removed, go for it :) i’ve posted similar stats before with no probs so it shouldn’t be an issue.

question..how did you record all the hits to your portfolio?

just a little php script, inserted as an image on each item page. eg: <img src="http://mywebsite.com/record.php?item_id=1234" /> It comes with my Envato Stats Dashboard on CodeCanyon (free file of the month last month). But shouldn’t be hard to make your own stats counter if you know basic php.
