Hi guys,

To be frank, this is not any ‘reviewer hate’ thread. So, no war on this topic. We understand the benefits of review system and we are committed to follow each and every feedback from reviewers, they do a great help actually.

But there is something we need to get clarified about reviewer’s message received on our new WordPress theme soft-rejected just 20 minutes ago. We need some clarity regarding some points. We will quote these points that we find confusing (when it is about WordPress theme) from reviewer’s message:

1. Avoid using !important http://envato.d.pr/WG5m/1FHvYFYU

2. Admin bar overlap: http://envato.d.pr/L3zZ/4FqfhLpo .....

5. Some of your files contain validation errors that will need to be fixed. Please be sure that all files validate before resubmitting. You can validate HTML at http://validator.w3.org

Now the thoughts about each one:

1. Just wondering how it come to ‘do not use !important’? Is this actually a new rule for WordPress theme submission. Please let us know, we have to work on it then.

2. Admin Bar overlap. Seriously, it is a WordPress CMS stuff and it is sticky on top as always. Are you guys (fellow WP developers) experience the same review message? If so, what was your solution towards it? Editing the CSS in the wild or any good way?

5. W3 validation on WP theme? Most weird thing. We are sure even the most recent (yesterday) released WP theme here does not validate, then why this one? Is it a rule started today?

We hope someone can provide some guidelines.
If Ivor / Kailoon provide a kind response, it will be very helpful to us.

Thank you everyone

Cheers!
Team Designova

UPDATE:

We are discussing the points with other developers in our circle, and we will fix them soon.
Things are getting clear. No worries. :)

I’m mostly interested in the !important rule. Sometimes, you just have to use it :)

1. Explain to the reviewer that you can use !important

2. Add some custom code to make the admin bar transparent – there are certain layouts where it is absolutely impossible to make the admin bar work – i have two themes like this where the admin bar overlaps, but i’m adding an overlay.

5. Again, explain to the reviewer..

hmm.. These might have to do with the new reviewers that they hired. I also got one theme hard rejected because of design quality a few days ago :D

@Ruben – And what did you/ are you going to do about the hard rejected theme? Have you tried contacting Ivor/Kailoon through support?

Cheers

Nope, i’ll resubmit with some changes.. I’ve been here long enough to know that contacting the reviewers through support is useless in such cases :)

Yeah prolly the best approach of all. I would have done the same, but was curious to hear from somebody bigger and older than me (themeforest-wise).

Cheers buddy and good luck. Awesome portfolio btw.
