I guess this may have been discussed before – and if i’m bridging any envato rules, please stop me.

Instead of asking designers for permission every time to use their work showcase images (creattica, dribbble, etc..), wouldn’t it be cool if we could have a list of artists (GraphicRiver mostly, i guess) who are keen to have their work used in TF theme / template previews?

I am pretty sure there are a lot of guys out there that would love to have their work displayed in TF previews.. and i know for fact that a lot of TF users are hunting for images to use in their demos!

If you want to allow TF users to use your work in item previews, go ahead and give us 2 pieces of information:

  1. The URL to your work showcase (not an envato marketplace item link!)
  2. The URL to where you would like TF users to link to in the credits

What do you guys think about it? Is there a similar thread already going – i searched but may have missed it!

Enjoy your week-end!

Only for the previews? Not also included inside the template’s .zip file? If so, then I have to say that such practices are extremely misleading for the customers, who aren’t getting what they (and rightly so) were expecting. I just hope that those who do this kind of thing, have a big 40px heading on the first line of their item’s description, warning the possible customers about this.

Unless you made the image or bought an expensive license, then I am pretty sure you are not allowed to ever re-distribute an image. Why would buyers even want the images from the demo? They are buying a theme to use on a real website, which would have real articles/relevant images.

I’ve just posted a thread on the GR forum inviting authors to visit this thread. :-)
