hey guys,

i was just wondering (for you freelancers out there) what your typical billable hours are (for an average project) per week. Do you guys prefer working longer days and have the weekend off…or shorter days but sacrifice your Saturday and/or Sunday.

What do you find works best for you in terms of productivity?

thanks

damn just noticed the typo in the title

I think it’s important to realize that not all hours worked are in fact billable. Following up leads, doing short introduction talks, answering email, invoicing are all typically non-billable (of course there are some exceptions here).

I’ve found that I easily put in 5 billable hours per day and say another one or two for tasks mentioned above. I bring the number of hours up or down as I please (one of the great advantages of being your own boss).
