I see that many authors who upload CSS based items, do not show really “live preview” for fear of free copying code.
I think about create protection tool for authors who have such problem (themeforest and codecanyon authors).
Would You be interested?
Maybe You know similar tool or/and You use such (obfuscators, compilers, any other)?
Thank You for opinion in this matter
you cannot protect front end code
You can’t. Not for HTML templates.
If you could find someway of doing it, I’d definitely buy it. I didn’t think it was possible, but seeing as though copyright is one of the main issues I have with my products, it’d be worth a try.
It’s not physically possible due to the coding language that’s the issue with a interpretive coding language, there is no way to get around it
I see many methods for resolve this problem.
Yes, complete hiding code is not good way
but … We have other ways.
Even if you obfuscate the code or whatever solutions you may have thinked of, they won’t work with normal templates, there’s no solution for that, it may take some time in order to get the original code in place if you obfuscate or encode it, but that’s the only effect you can get.
@MyNameIsMatthew, I don’t mean to rain over your parade, but people will discover the closure compiler tools eventually and whatever you create will only be twice as hard to sell. I’m not sure your already aware but authors developing CSS only based solutions can go for something like google closures renamer :
This will help you keep everything in sync and is a good way to provide your demonstration pages. Without clear variable names it will be quite a chore for end users to steal your hard work, surely not worth it when the item costs a few dollars
This is what Google uses on most of their products. Gmail, g+ etc, not because they want to stop people from stealing their code i reckon but most likely for the reduced bandwidth this brings, due to high traffic they experience
