zoom crop?

When someone uploads an image smaller than one of the media sizes, is it possible to have wordpress scale up and crop the image? (without timthumb)

No luck? It’s okay… I couldn’t find a solution either… I did notice that someone posted it as a feature consideration on the wordpress trac so likely it isn’t possible right now.
