Hi Paul Great template ! what is the name of the widget you use for the “stay connected” aera ?

PaulWinslow

Thank you for purchasing the theme. This is the very handy “Zilla Social” plugin by the guys over at themezilla.com – you can grab the plugin for free for here: http://www.themezilla.com/plugins/ :)

Hi all,

Just a quick note to let people know I’ve been without internet since Monday evening so my apologies to those who have had open tickets in the support forum over the last 24-48 hours.

Thankfully I’m back up again so all open tickets will be responded to promptly. Thanks everybody for your patience.

last question, is it easy to make the image on the article page full size (instead of widescreen as in demo). I like the look of the page “This Month’s Issue” better than the article look. I will be adding FB comments but that shouldn’t be a problem.

Thanks!

PaulWinslow

Yes, if you wanted to you could increase the height of the single-post thumbnails (before you start attaching them)

And of course I could point out in the support forum where you can make that change :)

I really like this theme, it is almost exactly what I’m looking for, clean and responsive. Thanks.

A tip for those previewing the template on a tablet or phone (and I apologize if I missed this elsewhere), it is important to remove the ThemeForest frame by clicking on the link at the top left of the page. I thought that the 80/20 theme wasn’t being responsive, but it was because of the frame. Remove the frame and all is good.

Paul, I hope you will produce an FAQ based on common questions submitted by support tickets as most seem to be private tickets and we don’t benefit from your feedback. I’m sure many of us will be traveling down similar paths and could benefit—and save you time as well.

PaulWinslow

Thank you, riden. All suggestions are welcome and happily received :)

Hi, I am interested in buying your theme but first I have 2 questions.

1-Anyway to see how the center column of the home page would look if a post has no thumbnail or image? Would it just reshuffle the posts?

2-And does the image esize and crop to fit the height of the post thumbnail or would images need to be uploaded at the intended size?

I need to be able to let my client post articles with or without thumbnail at whichever size the images happen to be.

Thank you for your help.

PaulWinslow

Hey,

1. The slideshow would still slide through your posts without the thumbnails, but the next/previous controls are positioned to fit at the bottom of the image, so this would come with a tiny tweak to the CSS to move those

2. Yes, the images will be cropped for you to fit nicely in the layout

Hi there,

I’m considering purchasing this theme but before I do I’d like to ask if it’s possible to have the author/date other info on posts pages on the right side instead of left. I think it’s more comfortable to most readers if the actual article is on the left.

And perhaps social share buttons underneath the author/date etc to fill up the space? Would it be possible for that area to always stay on top of the user’s page as the user scrolls down? That would be great because then there will never be that empty space there. If I didn’t explain that well, let me know and I’ll explain with a few examples!

Thank you in advance.

PaulWinslow

Hey kazzar,

1. Yes that’s possible with a tiny tweak or two. I’d be happy to help you with this in the support forum

2. There is almost certainly a handful of plugins that do a great job of adding social share buttons to your site, that’d be your best bet to make this happen. And yes, another small tweak and you could make the post data sticky – again I’d be happy to show you how in the forum

couple of questions before i purchase.

1. is there a contact form? 2. can this theme support “members” allowing users to register/login?

thanks!

PaulWinslow

Hey, at the moment there’s no built-in contact template but I would recommend the CF7 plugin for making this happen (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/contact-form-7/)

Again there’s nothing out-of-the-box for handling memberships but there are dozens of great plugins that’ll do a good job of this for you

how much for this to be done as custom work directly with yourself.

Hi Paul,

I just purchased this theme, but I have several questions to install it properly:

1) How can we control what primary posts show up in the center of the home page, not on the slider? Also your example shows 6 of these, but when I installed the theme, I have 10.

2) When selecting images to go with the posts, the example has different dimensions on the thumbnails (approx 4×3) and then on the post page (much wider). How do you do this?

3) How can I get subtitles to show up?

Thank you so much!

PaulWinslow

Hey, thanks for purchasing the theme. If you’d like to open a new ticket in the support forum I’ll be happy answer these as well as any other questions that might pop up in the future.

can 80/20 be integrated with BuddyPress?

PaulWinslow

Hey, I haven’t tested specifically with BuddyPress myself, but I’d imagine you’ll be fine to use the plug-in and play around. Might need a tweak or two from a developer.

Default-user

Would you consider doing it as custom work?

I really want to purchase this and I will if you could just answer a few questions please.

1) Could I make the layout you see on the design page the layout for the homepage, instead of the layout that is already on the homepage if you go on the demo?

2) How easy is it to move the sidebar to the right? Will it require any coding, or is there a setting for it?

Thank you!

PaulWinslow

Hey Max, both are possible and would be fairly simple changes. I’d be happy to help you out with both of these in the support forum if you decide to pull the trigger on the theme.

Hi Paul. This is a really cool template. Before I purchase, I do have a question. I’m not a complete beginner when it comes to websites, but is it “newby-friendly”? Or is it advised to use this only with more experience?

PaulWinslow

Hey, you’ll be absolutely fine, mate. The setup is very straightforward and you’ll receive the documentation for the step-by-step. Anything you might need a hand with and you just have to give me a shout in the support forum and I’ll be more than happy to help.

I’d love to add a social aspect to 80/20 – it would be perfect for an upcoming project.

Would I be able to easily add a forum plugin such as Buddypress?

PaulWinslow

Hey, I haven’t tested specifically with BuddyPress but there’s no harm in giving the plug-in a go and having a play around with it. I’m sure you’ll find it works just fine.

The theme is responsive. On a smartphone you see always the sidebars before the blog. If you select an article again you first see the sidebars – and you can only see the theme in this mode.

When will this be changed?

Hey,

I have not bought it yet, But the theme looks great, i see severa pages(design, tech, business and plilosephy). on top of the page it says ” postpage”. are these regular pages of really postpages? is it possible to make unlimited postpages? Where is this done, in Settings-reading like with regular theme or is there a special way.

thanks

PaulWinslow

Hey, the pages you see called “Design, Business” etc in the navigation are category templates for the site’s post categories. If you click a category link (the orange boxes within the thumbnails) you should have a better idea of how the category template works. Using the WordPress custom menu system you can add your post categories to your navigation menu.

Hi I purchased your theme a few days ago and am trying to create a sample site for my friend. He needed a podcast-driven blog and your site was perfect.

I downloaded the Blubrry podcast plugin (very popular and its been used on another friend’s site) and after creating 5 posts… the site crashed and wouldn’t display any o the posts.

I deleted those posts and restarted them but now the slider crashed.

I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but am not a developer (designer) so I’m not sure what I’m doing. Did I break something in the admin page???

PaulWinslow

Hey, if you could open up a ticket in the support forum I’ll be happy to take a closer look behind the scenes. We’ll go over it over there.

Hi Paul,

Is it possible to change the default font to a more personal font? How to do it?

Thanks :)

PaulWinslow

Hey, the font is from the Google library so yeah you’d be able to swap it out for a different one, that’d be a simple change. I’ve helped a couple of others do this in the support forum so the information is there if you decide to pull the trigger.

Default-user

Purchased it already, Paul! Super nice!

Thanks!

Hey Paul,

Liking the theme so far, but I’m having a problem. I’ve got too many posts up to fit on the front page. When I try to click on to page 2 to see the older stuff, it takes me right back to the front page.

Any help?

Thanks.

PaulWinslow

Hey Matt – Thanks for purchasing the theme. If you jump over to the support forum I’ll be happy to take a closer look.

Hi Paul, great theme, I’m very tempted to buy this one. A couple of questions:

1) Is it possible to add a banner advert to the theme?

2) In the category widgets in the sidebars, you have it displaying three posts. Is it possible to increase this to, say 12? Also with these, if the posts do not have associated images, will they still display ok?

Thanks mate.

Matt

PaulWinslow

Hey Matt,

1. You can also throw an ad image or some embed code into a text widget to get that job done – but at the moment there aren’t any built-in widgets specifically for this.

2. Absolutely, just pop the number of posts you want to display into the widget settings and you’ll be good to go.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi i have purchased the theme! There is no sample data to import into Wordpress with this theme?

PaulWinslow

Hey, thanks for purchasing the theme. If you want to jump into the support forum I’ll be happy to export the XML file from the demo and shoot that over to you.
