Ed,
Wow… this is the most elegant theme on Themeforest right now. I’ve been looking all over the damn internet to find a theme that 1) uses isotope plugin, 2) has full width sliders, and 3) uses smooth animations. You nailed everything with this one.
Now, the one thing I haven’t found ANYWHERE is a masonry layout with multiple element sizes (full width image, 1/3 image next to 2/3 image, 1/2 next to 1/2, etc). I’d like to mimic 500px.com’s new “Flow” layout: http://500px.com/. Do you think this is possible to do with your theme? If so, how would I achieve it and would you help me? If you figured it out, I bet a lot of people will buy the theme just for that reason since nobody else has it.
Thanks, and well done!
Chris
Hi Chris,
That could be possible, but would probably be quite a bit of work! I’m not sure it’s something that I can put into ability, but I will consider it for my next theme. If it’s something you really want, then I might be able to offer it as custom work.
Thank you for the kind words about Ability
- Ed
Please do consider it for your next theme… seriously, nobody has this feature yet and it’s becoming more and more popular. In the mean time, I’m gonna buy and use Ability on my personal site and then upgrade to your next one
Chris
I’ll see what I can do
If you have any questions about Ability – let me know!

Hi Again!
This is a strange question…
I have a plugin i’m using (http://codecanyon.net/item/pullout-widgets/1810209)
But when the theme re-sizes for lets say mobile view, the plugin overlays the content.
Could you point me in the direction or maybe help me better understand how I can disable / hide a plugin when re-sized?
Hi there.
Sure, what you want to do is add this statement to your custom css:
@media only screen and (max-width: 959px) { .class-to-hide {display: none;} }Then you can customise the width that you want this to be effective from.
Hope that helps!
- Ed
Awesome theme. I love it. Question, how do I change the taglines that show up below the titles of blog, portfolio, etc. Such as:
Our thoughts, feelings, and interesting news.
A selection of our client work, and internal experiments.
I thought I’d find it as Page-tagline in custom field but got nothing. Help please? Thanks! Good luck with sales.
Hi there,
It’s available in Theme Options, under the translation tab.
Let me know if you have any more questions
- Ed
Hi, Only One question before purchase, can you tell me if is possible to create sub menus?
Hi dkx,
It’s not currently supported, but it’s something that I’m planning to add in the future, possibly for v1.3.
- Ed
Hello Ed,
Awesome looking theme! Just a couple of quick question before I purchase.
I notice when a portfolio item is viewed, the aspect ration is always the same cropped view of the photo. Can this be adjusted to show photos in their proper aspect ratio without cropping?
2) Can the image at the top of a bog post be made to be large, kind of like the slideshow on the home page? I would want the image to push the sidebar down beneath it as well.
Inspiration for this comes from this awesome website http://thegreatdiscontent.com/jeff-sheldon
Thank you,
Jay
Hi Jay,
Thanks
1) Unfortunately not, as it didn’t work well with the AJAX . The idea behind the design is that you open the image in the lightbox to see the full image.
2) that could be done, but it would take some custom work – something that I could offer.
- Ed
can the aspect ratio be changed just so it would not crop the photo, if they were all in the same landcape orientation?
Thanks for the fast response.
I can help you out with changing the height of the image so that it doesn’t crop if that’s something you need.
Let me know.
- Ed
Hi,
With some portrait oriented photos that I’m uploading to the portfolio, it uses a lower resolution thumbnail (when you click on the grid – before you click to bring the lightbox up). Is there a way to change which size thumbnail that gets chosen so it’s not a low quality one?
Hi willislim,
It uses the best resolution for that size, which is the best quality it can be. Chances are that the image you’ve uploaded isn’t as wide as the portfolio display?
- Ed
Hi Ed,
I think the images may not be that wide though the downside of it is that if you upload a portrait oriented image then it will crop out and/or the the shot will look overly large ie large head filling the entire frame.
If you’d like I could probably sort something out where we increase the standard height?
- Ed
That would be great if you could – I’m not sure what the sweet spot would be though for a portrait image?
Would probably be good if you could work that out from the size of your images, then let me know so I can work out the changes for you.
- Ed
Hi,
Great theme but I cannot get it to work – did you get my email? I sent it from your profile email box.
My email is info@pixelspencil.com
Hi youngie,
I’m away today, but will reply as soon as I can tomorrow.
- Ed
Hi. I’m trying to adapt a wordpress e-magazine site to this theme but I’m having problems with the blog post. When I use the blog on the navigation button it send me correctly to the blog main page part. But then when I use the “view all” button or go to mypage.com/blog it doesn’t display anything. What could be wrong?
Can you email me a link so I can take a look? Have you set up permalinks?
- Ed
Hi,
I’d like the height for portrait images to be about 600px in height… see example (https://img.skitch.com/20120328-juuphb3badrs1gwi36ww8y5thp.jpg) of where it uses a lower res thumbnail. I’m happy to change the portfolio php file myself – Haven’t had a chance to look exactly which file to find to change the parameters.
Thanks for the quick response btw.
You’re welcome, I’ll have a look tomorrow and sort some instructions out for you.
- Ed
I’ve sent you an subscriber account via email since I have an “under construction” page up (running site and don’t want my subscribers to see the mess for now). As far as the permalinks, I have them set up since this site has been up for some months now but I didn’t see in the documentation if there is an specific way to do it. Hope you can see the problem.
All fixed
- Ed
awesome looking theme. is it easy to turn off the header scale affect? we basically want to be able to set the height and stick with it.
Thanks!
Yep, there is an option within the Theme Options panel to turn it on/off.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
- Ed
so can i choose whether the default is the big version or the small version?
Yes you can, you can easily turn it on/off through a checkbox in the theme options.
- Ed
got it, but when it is off, what state is it in? big or small? can you choose?
It’s in the big state when turned off. I can sort it out for you so that It’s small if you wish.
- Ed
I really like the ability theme. I’ve noted that at least on the Safari browser when the browser width changes the pop up menu’s text cannot be read. It is either the same color as the button or it isn’t there. When the menu is clicked then I can read the menu items.
I also like the ability to add sub menu items on the main menu and I will be checking back to see it.
Great work!
Thanks
Not seeing the issue you’re talking about, would you mind sending me an email with a screenshot or some more details?
Appreciate it.
- Ed
Sure here is a screen grab
Thanks for the screenshot.
I’ve actually designed it to be like that, as I didn’t think having text there would make too much sense! I’ll look into adding some indication though.
- Ed
OK, I understand it was your “design” decision. Believe it or not I have some clients who are, well “clueless” when it comes to the internet. I find also that a lot of people over a certain age demographic need for things to be very clear. So in the interest of good communication I always label my menus. Thank you for your feedback and great work!
Thank you for your comments, they are appreciated
- Ed
Hi there,
I e-mailed you a question about multilanguage based site, but also thought of another thing.
How can I change the speed of the showcase slider?
Hi Dlof,
I just replied to your email.
This can be changed in /js/functions.js.php on line 536.
- Ed
Do you happen to have “screen shots” of the admin. just wanted to see how easy to customize without coding. Like 2 of your themes
silly me
I saw found the screens in the screenshots sections. Go figure
Glad you found it
