Fantastically designed template!
Unfortunately, I’m having trouble with just about everything lol. If you have the time I have a few questions.
1. My homepage is blank. I added a Showcase with vimeo link and photo but nothing shows up.
2. My contact page is blank. I can’t figure out how to get it nice like yours with the headline text with the blue bar and all the text underneath. Also, I can’t figure out how to get “Name”, “Email”, “Messages” etc above the boxes.
3. I can’t get my homepage to have all pages within it (like the way yours just scrolls down to get to different sections) – and I can’t figure out how to get a big headline like the demo.
As you can see I’m basically stumped lol. I’ve set up a Wordpress page before but for some reason I think I’m just missing something here. It’s loaded at www.atlanticapictures.com

It seems as if your theme options have been corrupted. Could you try resetting them using the button provided?

I restored and then I got this message “Fatal error: Cannot use string offset as an array in /home/louisw6/public_html/www.atlanticapictures.com/wp-content/themes/ability/template-home.php on line 11”
Did you manually set up the database or was it done through an auto installer?

Thanks again for taking a look. I did a manual instal using Fantistico and InMotionHosting. I completely uninstalled and then reinstalled everything. It works properly but it seems every time I instal a logo the theme options get corrupted again. I even tried different logos and they all do the same thing. I’m stumped lol.
It seems that there is an issue when using fantastico installs. Would you be able to upload the WordPress files and create the database manually? It should work without issue then.

This is my last question, I promise! lol. Is it possible to add some padding to the left and right sides of the showcase slider? I’m trying to make like 15 pixel white border around the edges so it doesn’t reach the edge of the browser window. Thanks! Louis

I really hate to do this but I have one final question. Everything is great now but the contact isn’t working. When I click send I just get the spinning icon. Any idea what they may be?

It sounds like you haven’t set the contact page (in Theme Options), to the page that you’ve created using the Contact template.
Let me know if that fixes it.

Ed, kudos for a great, well documented theme. Still, I do have a question. I set my About page to use the Default Template and I end up with a thin white rectangle at the top, which seems to be the output of the flexslider DIV . It is unclear to me if this is by design and if I must somehow specify media to populate the enclosed LI elements when using this template (if so, where would I do that?). I’m not seeing this behaviour when using the Full Width template (no thin rectangle).

I follow you on Twitter so I know you have a shiny new iPad like me – are you also seeing the 10px or so margin to the right of the homepage? A lot of themes have this issue – can you fix it? I hate having the horizontal scroll when the theme should fit the width!
Also, are you going to be updating some of the assets for retina displays? How does that work – defining the pixel aspect ratio in the header?
One last thing – with iOS5, Safari finally accepts fixed positioning. Is there a way to keep the nav/logo bar at the top fixed for the iPad, just like it does on the desktop? Would really be great to have a fixed navigation at the top and have everything scroll underneath it using Safari’s native scrolling.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I’ll have a look into it!
I will probably implement as many images as I can for retina displays, it works by using media queries to target specific pixel ratios.
The fixed positioning on iPhone/iPad is something that I can easily enable for you, will just be a simple css statement that you add to your custom css.

Awesome, I can’t wait!
Any ideas why my portfolio images are looking very blurry? Not the small thumbnails in the filter, but on the expanded.
Once opened in prettyphoto to maximum size, they are perfect (1200px+ landscape), but when view in the portfolio section (when reading about the project) the image is almost unviewable.
Any ideas?

I’ve spent about $200 on themes here on themeforest, and Ability is by far the most solid, well documented theme I’ve ever used. This really sets the precedent for other themes!
Now, I do have some issues:I’ll keep adding bugs here in Themeforest unless you’d rather me email them to you. All in all, this really is the best theme I’ve ever used!

Love this theme, and that you have a mobile version built in! Does this, however, support the Disqus comment system? I’ve purchased a few themes that do not so I am unable to use them. Just thought I’d ask in advance.

Great theme! I want the showcase slider on the homepage to be smaller though – probably about 960×400. Any way you could help me out with that? I can send you an email about it if that works for you.
.home-slider-wrap { margin: 0 10% 40px; }You can use the code above in the custom css box within Theme Options to set the size of the slider. Just change the 10% value to how much space you want on the left / right, which will resize the slider whilst keeping it in the centre.

I’m posting this here because I think others might find your answer useful. How do you change the sub-titles on the Homepage under Blog, Portfolio, and Contact?
Also, on my blog page, none of my posts are showing up. I’ve set this “blog” page to use the blog template, and also set this page to be the blog in the Reading section within Settings. Do I have to indicate which categories to show somewhere?

The sub titles can be changed under the translation tab within the theme options.

Hi, Congratulations! Ability is great! I would like to purchase it for a multilingual site that is running with WPML plugin. Is this theme compatible with the plugin? It’s not compatible with that plugin, instead all the translation is easily changed through the translation tab within the theme options.

I am having a little trouble trying to set up the site so that I can have 2 blog pages and 2 portfolio pages. The site is for a band, one blog page is for news, another for an actual blog. One portfolio page is for photos, the other for video. Is this possible? Could you shed some light if so. The site in it’s current state is at thebadheads.com/cms Thanks very much. Richard

It’s possible to have two blogs but not portfolios. For the two blog pages, it’s probably best to set up two categories, then display each page as categories (you’d want to use the custom page options to display these on the homepage).

Thanks for the quick response, no worries about the portfolio. Forgive my stupidity but just trying to get to the bottom of how to add 2 blogs… I set up two categories but I’m not sure how to ‘display each page as categories’.
I was able to add these two categories to my menu but then when clicked upon these, they would not load either of the two test blog entries I made ‘Blog A Test Post’ or ‘Blog B Test Post’ which I assigned to the relevant category.

- I would like to know how to establish the URL of a button to scroll to the “contact” section of my one-page homepage, instead of going to the target page.
- I don’t want my visitors to go to target pages, I would like them to discover the content of my site always scrolling up and down, so I would like to know if there is any way to disable the option of visiting the target pages in the main menu. (For example, when I am reading a blog post, if I click in the main menu, I am redirected to the target page, not to the scroll section of the one-page home).
Thanks in advance.To set it to scroll to the section rather than going to the page, you need to set the title of the menu item (details of these can be found in the documentation).
The blog post page is a separate page, so unfortunately it has to redirect back to the one page. Are you saying you’d rather the menu links from the blog page link back to the one page then scroll down to the section, rather than a new page?

- I have set the tittle of the menu item as it is explained in the documentation in order to scroll down, but I would like to have also this functionality when I click on a button made by the shortcode generator inside the text of the About page. I don’t know if there is any way to do that.

Thank you very much for your help.1 – You can do that by having the link value for the button set to #home, #blog, #portfolio etc. To have it scroll would require an extra jQuery function, which is something I could sort out for you.

This theme is exactly what I was looking for and incredibly well commented (Thankyou!). I had a question.
I love that you included Google Font integration within the options, BUT I ’m having trouble getting it to work correctly. I can get the tagline to work with Google Fonts, but if I enable the default fonts, they won’t show up in whatever font I selected. Also, enabling the default fonts seems to cause the tagline to no longer work as well.
Any advice? Thanks so much.
