I’m having two issues:

1. All my posts have a featured image and the theme is ignoring them on the pages that list posts. How can I get it to show the featured image so I don’t have to manually move them all into the post contents?

2. The “Continue Reading” button is showing inconsistently. On some posts it shows on a new line, left aligned with the post’s body and on others it comes immediately after the last word before the “more” tag.

How can I get it to always show on a new line, to the left so the layout is consistent?

Thanks!

Default-user

I found the issue with #2, I can go in and put a line break before the “more” tag in each post or set the more-link class to display:block and give it a fixed width of like 188px.

Still not sure how to get the featured images to show in the loop.

ThemeBeans

Yes, or just set the more tag like so in your entry content field ( screenshot: http://thmbns.co/QcY9)

Ah I see. By default the featured images do not display in the standard post format, but they do in the image post format (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/QdFv).

You can either set them to the image post formats, or mod the content.php file with the contents from content-image.php (lines 11-40 and the “endif” on line 58 near the bottom).

If you need further assistance, I’d appreciate it if you contacted us through the Bean Support Center. It’s far easier to keep track of things and get you some help!

Thank for the reply Rich. You’re correct, putting the more tag on a new line works. I opted for using CSS so I didn’t have to update all the existing posts.

I’ll try modifying the content-image.php page so I don’t have to change the existing posts for that but it’s good to know for future posts I can change the post type to “image”.

Thanks again.

ThemeBeans

Awesome, no problem :)

Where can I change the Continue Reading text?, I have an spanish lang blog so I need to translate it for my site.

Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Hey D3NE, in the lib/content/content-(postformat).php files you will see the following:

<?php the_content( __( ‘ Continue Reading ’, ‘bean’ ) ); ?>

Just swap out the Continue Reading part in each of those and you’re golden.

I really love the Acute theme. It’s simple and clean, but I have a small problem. I want to insert a header image. Is that possible? Can you explain to me how I can change this in Header.php? It would make this template perfect for me! And if it’s not possible…......can I exchange this template and download the Spruce theme?

cheers

ThemeBeans

Hey this is most certainly possible via some CSS edits. Locate #header in the style.css file (line 490 or use the child theme) and you can add a background image to it. See the example below:

header { background: url() no-repeat fixed center center;

-webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; }

Hello there, im actually using your theme with my blog. I actually love the theme, but i found a small mistake:

It actually only appears on single Pages.

ThemeBeans

Hey Florain, glad you’re ikgin it. We’re actually not pulling that via the live demo.

It looks like something with the “Facebook Opengraph post” being pulled it externally (probably a plugin, or did you add that in yourself?)

It’s there any way to change the position of the title to be above the featured image?, I really need to do this so my visitors see the title before the image of the post.

Thank you very much.

ThemeBeans

Sure, if you go to lib/content/content-image.php and look in that file – you will see the code in place to display the featured image (lines 11 – 36). Move that below the bean_post_meta(); on line 54. You may need to do some CSS margin adjustments, but that’ll do the trick!

Cheers, Rich

I think that might work, but I need that the meta of the post stays below the image, the only thing I want to move above is the Title. ¿Any thoughts?

ThemeBeans

Oh, then you would leave the bean_post_meta(); down below it – but make sure you separate the “}” right there. That “}” closes up the if single call (which is for the header).

Im getting an error by doing that, this is my code:

<?php
$thumb_w = 780; //Define width
    $thumb_h = 366; // Define height
$thumb = get_post_thumbnail_id();
$img_url = wp_get_attachment_url( $thumb,'full' ); //get full URL to image (use "large" or "medium" if the image is too big)
$image = radium_resize( $img_url, $thumb_w, $thumb_h, true ); //resize & crop the image
if($image) : ?>
<?php if( is_singular() ) { ?> \\ <?php } else { ?> \\ <?php } ?>
<?php } bean_post_meta(); ?>

What should I do?

ThemeBeans

Delete the “}” from the bean_post_meta so it looks like this: <?php bean_post_meta(); ?>

It looks like it’s not closing anything.

Still getting an error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in ”...” on line 103 wich is this one:

</section><!- END #post<?php the_ID(); ?>—>

Now my code look like this:

<?php

$thumb_w = 780; //Define width
    $thumb_h = 366; // Define height
$thumb = get_post_thumbnail_id();
$img_url = wp_get_attachment_url( $thumb,'full' ); //get full URL to image (use "large" or "medium" if the image is too big)
$image = radium_resize( $img_url, $thumb_w, $thumb_h, true ); //resize & crop the image
if($image) : ?>
<?php if( is_singular() ) { ?> \\ <?php } else { ?> \\ <?php } ?>
<?php bean_post_meta(); ?>
ThemeBeans

Do you have an <?php endif; ?> anywhere in your document? You need that to close where the image is being loaded.

If that doesn’t work, please contact us via the Bean Support Center – it’s near impossible to target the code errors from a code snippet, as PHP functional errors can start/end technically anywhere throughout the file.

Couple quick questions before purchase – I am looking to use this mainly for the blog post functionality and am wondering if it is possible to display several full posts on a page, rather than the shortened w/Read more link, along with displaying all photos in a post, rather than the gallery view? Thanks!

ThemeBeans

Sure, we’re using the <-more-> tag to display the Continue Reading button, so you can technically let the posts be as short or as long as you’d prefer.

Cheers, Rich

Default-user

Thanks, and what about the images? Is it possible to display several photos in a post without using the gallery format?

ThemeBeans

This would be a good starting point – http://snippi.com/s/ku6fzri. You’d probably need to put it in lib/content/content-image.php in lieu of the post-thumb div content.

Default-user

Excellent, thanks, I will give that a try as well. One last question, I assume it would be fairly easy to move the post images below the title and body text?

ThemeBeans

It would take a little rearranging in the image-content.php file, but nothing too difficult really.

I have a few pre purchase questions:

If I create a custom sliding panel for posts will this panel apply for all posts or do I need to set the custom sliding panel for each individual post?

You have added a Google Prettify short-code. Looking at the examples of this in the posts I notice that it only shows code examples in a black font color. Also the code examples cannot be copied. Is the short-code not working correctly or is this an artifact of the preview? Can I still create my own Google Prettify theme and replace the prettify.css file or have you integrated the prettify css rules in the theme style sheet?

I have read through the other comments and see several answers which state that this will be solved or added in the next update. I don’t see these changes in the preview. Doesn’t the preview show the latest update?

In the Theme features information it says “Hundreds of elegant short-codes”. Are there more short-codes included with the theme (the preview only shows 8 short-codes and the free short-codes plugin only contains 13).

ThemeBeans

Ok here we go. :)

1. It does work, the one your looking at is just the default code block, without prettify. Theres a small demo at the bottom of this page: http://demo.themebeans.com/acute/shortcodes

2. You could modify the shortcodes stylesheet to the theme you’d like (or custom theme). This is what we’re currently using: http://snippi.com/s/xa0l8w9

3. What are you referring to here? There is currently no known issues/bugs in the theme that we are aware of.

4. Hundreds in the way that there are 13 or so types of shortcodes, but within each there are many options. For example, the buttons alone have a couple hundred variations, then there’s featured areas/columns/etc. There are no shortcodes within the actual theme files (as that’s just about illegal – starting next week all themes are subject to ThemeForest’s new development standards). By taking the shortcodes and placing them in a plugin our themes already comply by that rule.

5. Didn’t see the one at top; you will only have to make one widget area for all the posts. Then you’d add whichever widget’s you’d like to that widget area

Default-user

1. Ok. Would be nice to have copy (and wordwrap) features for the Pretty code blocks. The small demo code block can only be copied by dragging your mouse over it which is kind of primitive for a feature like this.

3. I was referring firstly to bugs mentioned in some of the comments. E.g.: for the footer someone mentioned problems with widgets in the footer that overlapped with the left column (logo/copyright). I see only an example with one widget on the right. Is there only one widget area in the footer? Can you also use a widget on the left in the footer but does it still show the logo/copyright if you do this? Their are other bugs mentioned in other comments but i haven’t read anywhere if these have been solved (how many updates have there been, which issues were addressed in those updates; that kind of info). And secondly I am referring to features that were requested in the comments (the related posts feature, editor’s note feature as in Words, Font switcher, option yes/no scrollable sidebar, Social sharing via Theme Options panel). Some of those features the reply said those would be added, others that you would consider them/look into them. Some of those features I simply do not see in the preview (related posts, font switcher). Others might be part of the options but I do not specifically see them in the screenshots.

BTW In one of the replies to a comment a link to demo data was added. But when I follow that link I get a 404.

ThemeBeans

1. We do not have a click to copy function with our code shortcodes – though it’s a neat idea and we’ve been brainstorming an extended plugin for this functionality.

2. There is only one widget area in the footer, though there are four footer layout options. Again, there are no bugs per the footer widgets as of now (most of what is posted here is either external plugin or user error issues which were resolved via our Support Center).

There is a public changelog < href=”http://www.assets.themebeans.com/changelogs/acute.txt”>here with update information.

3. There is a scrollable sidebar option (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/RFw1). There is not a Google font switcher. That functionality is far better off in a plugin form. There is social sharing (screenshot: http://thmbns.co/RGpr). There is not a related posts feature in Acute.

4. Demo data can be downloaded from this link here.

Hope this clears things up for you John, Cheers! Rich

Default-user

1. That would be great.

2. Found it. Thanks. (there’s a typo in the link; without typo: http://www.assets.themebeans.com/changelogs/acute.txt

3. Thanks for the 2 screenshots.

See that Social sharing option only includes Facebook and Twitter. Could you add G+ or give directions on how to add that?

Surprised about the missing ‘related posts feature’. In reply to a question from dannyp45 you wrote “It’s at the top of our update list” and “We’re looking at a push later this week.”

4. Thanks.

ThemeBeans

Sometimes updates get pushed lower in priority for other updates, it’s currently listed in the dev icebox for Acute.

The Contact form has good validation and a nice gimmick.

Would be good to have something like that for the Comment form as well. (when the required email address on the comment form is not valid the visitor is directed to another page which tells him it isn’t valid. But he/she has to start all over again with filling in the contact info and the comment). Would be better if you stay on the same page and the input can be edited.

Hi, great Theme. 5 Star Rating.

Still have one minor Problem.

I use a static front page as the front page. I did the settings trough the reading panel. This static frontpage is not showing the Headline, like it does on other Pages or Posts.

Hi Guys,

This template is just awesome! I wonder if i could use it as a webapp in my iphone like adding it to my main screen.

I did already use the code below but when change pages it leads to my safari browser of course.

<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes">
<meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-status-bar-style" content="black-translucent">

Is there a possibility to turn this possible?

Thanks in advance ;)

ThemeBeans

Hey aPinix, I have not tested changing the template to be a “web app”, or have much experience working with that. You could add it to your home page like normal, and by modifying the apple-touch-icon.png in the theme’s images folder you can have your custom icon.

Just updated from 1.2.5 to the current version, I deleted 1.2.5 before installing the newest version.

So far the only issues I have are:

1) Without using the child theme the menu navigation bar is all mucked up http://i59.tinypic.com/xcpy54.jpg

2) It seems to be difficult to select anything in a drop down menu from the navigation bar (at least on my pc, the demo site for acute works fine however).

The webpage in question is http://www.pixelizm.com

Also I cannot find where the shortcodes are, you mention a shortcode manager on the demo page but I can’t see where it is.

Any help would be much appreciated.

ThemeBeans

Hey Goro, I’m not seeing an issue with your menu navigation. Do you think it may have just been a page cacheing issue? Here’s what I’m getting: http://thmbns.co/TcqA

For your second question, you’re referring to this right? Is the error persistent, or was it only occurring when your menu looked like the above?

For your last question, I moved the shortcodes to an outside plugin (Bean Shortcodes) to abide by ThemeForest’s new standards – a couple months ago.

Thanks for the reply, I’ve just tried the site again and it all seems to be working, I could’ve swore that I cleared the cache. Thanks for the help, sorry for wasting your time.

Hey Guys, Love your theme!

Do you support WPML? Do you support RTL languages? Also, do you have a demo available of how the theme looks when implementing the ThemeBeans Portfolio plugin?
