Stunning!

Great theme. Thinking of buying it.

Does this them let you do a Sticky Post in the Blog?

MushinDesign

Thanks!

It currently doesn’t but I’ll pop that in an update today :)

MushinDesign

The update with Sticky Post has just been approved :)

cool template. I like it! is it possible to put a youtube or vimeo link into the slider?

MushinDesign

Hi there, thanks for purchasing :)

Not in the slider, however I’ll definitely consider it for a future update :)

Martin

nice work, simply minimalist

MushinDesign

Thank you :)

Love this template design. The over states are subtle and beautiful. Really nice, clean, layout and great thinking going into this look from colors to fonts.

I am new to WP and a co-worker pointed me to the direction of theme forrest so I could build my new site myself. I do have a few questions about the template so apologies if these are simple questions.

1) Is there a “subscribe to newsletter” feature in this template? Or is that a widget I would have to look into getting?

2) In your marquee area, would a transparent PNG work if I wanted to create a standard background image?

3) For your ”+” icon within the portfolio pages, can that be customized to say something like “more info”? or to at least give it a rollover state? I’m not sure if that would be intuitive enough for some of the people that would be viewing my site.

4) When you update this template, is there a need to repurchase or would I be able to update files automatically.

Again, I absolutely love this template and am about 99% towards the purchase, but was hoping to get these questions answered beforehand. Thanks so much!

Hi there, thanks for your interest and kind words :)

1) I’m afraid there’s not a feature like that but I imagine you could find a plugin or widget to achieve what your after.

2) Do you mean for the slider? That would work fine.

3) Yes that would be possible. If your not sure how to achieve it just drop me an email from my profile page if you purchase and I’ll help you along.

4) Nope you get free updates :) when you purchase, the theme will appear in your downloads section, if there’s an update available or you just need to re-download simply head over to your download section within ThemeForest and download it again, for free.

Hope I’ve helped :)

Definitely have helped. Thank you very much for the quick response!

I’ve purchased the template and am really looking forward to customizing and getting this up and running.

I’ll try to figure out the “more info button” first on my own, but you may be hearing from me in the future. :)

Thanks for your purchase and not a problem, don’t hesitate in getting in touch!

I may be in and out of the office tomorrow ( as it’s my birthday :D ) but I’ll be in all day Wednesday if you need me to walk you through it.

Enjoy the theme and thank you again for your purchase :)

Well Happy Birthday to you! I won’t be working on this for at least another week but in the meantime when you have a sec I was wondering if you were planning on doing any email templates? I looked throughout the rest of your portfolio (very impressed, btw) and I think one based on this look would be killer. Thanks!

MushinDesign

Thank you very much. I don’t have any plans at the minute but I’ll definitely consider it. I’ll most likely not get a chance to release any new themes for a little while so I’ll just be continuing to update and support the current sites.

Thanks for your kind words :)

hi, wanted to know if I can go charging many of my works and how would it be? if it supports have many folders as I am a photographer and want to get photos of each event that I do

MushinDesign

Hi there, thanks for your interest.

I’m not 100% what you mean, could you elaborate a little please?

Each portfolio item can have up to 6 images which are displayed on the main item page in a slider (http://mushindesign.co.uk/demos/alight/?portfolio=vivamus-aliquet-mattis-2).

And you can give each project different tags which are used for the filter on the main project page so you can view projects specific to what tag you choose.

Hope this helps, Martin

Quick question but decisive before buy… Dimensions of the slider can be changed?

Great theme ;)

MushinDesign

Hi there, thanks for the interest :)

There’s not an option to do so but with the right knowledge you could easily achieve it.

Thanks, Martin

Hey MushinDesign,

I purchased your Wordpress theme, and want to use it fot my company website (www.wonkatonka.nl). The only problem I’m having is that the thumbs generated with the ‘use as featured image’ in the portfolio are a very poor quality jpg compression.

Is this a Wordpress problem, or a problem that is being generated by the theme. One way or the other, the jpg quality for the thumbs is unacceptable. Especially for a Graphic Designer. who wants to show his protfolio with lots of typography.

Is there a way to set the jpg compression to 100%. And if this is possible, where can I do this.

Kind regards Marco

MushinDesign

Hi Marco, thanks for purchasing.

I think this must be a WordPress issue as the theme doesn’t set anything like image compression etc and the images in the live demo have been uploaded using the theme.

I believe WordPress automatically sets the image compression to 90 but I’m sure you can get a plugin to alter this, however I don’t think this is the issue as like I said, images are fine on the demo site.

Could it be the images your using, could you email me one of them and I’ll try uploading it on my install. Maybe trying it on a different WordPress install will help

MushinDesign

Hi Marco,

I’ve just done a bit of research and it appears the issue may be down to your server – http://wordpress.org/support/topic/featured-images-quality-look-downgraded-why 4th post down.

If you still want to send an image over I’ll try it on my install and we’ll see if this is the case.

Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanx for the quick reply. I send you an email with the test images. And I’m going to look at your link regarding the server problems.

Hi Martin,

I bought your template some days ago. Great work, I love the design.

At the moment I am trying to upload my portfolio. That does work well. But what I doesn’t get right are the thumbnails of the projects.

Could you please help me with this?

Regards,

Timur

MushinDesign

Hi Timur, thanks for purchasing.

What exactly is the problem you would like help with?

Martin

I can’t show the thumbnail exactly like I want. I try to scale it i the edit mode and select the checkbox, changes only apply to thumbnail. Doesn’t give me the wanted results, but just a random thumbnail.

MushinDesign

The way the theme works is by taking the image you supply as the featured image and automatically cropping it to the several thumb sizes used around the site, as well as the main image so you don’t need to crop it yourself. Simply supply an image to satisfy the largest image size and the theme will do the rest.

But unfortenately that results in thumbnails that don’t look that well. Becasue I have no control of the positioning. For example when I have an illustration and I want to show the face of my caracter in the thumbnail, I suddenly get the hair or feet. So this is not possible in this theme?

MushinDesign

Unfortunately this is how it works in WordPress not just this theme, all themes are the same.

I have had a quick google search and found this article which may help you achieve what you want, however I have not used it myself

http://shailan.com/how-to-change-post-thumbnail-crop-position-in-wordpress/

Martin

Ok Martin,

Sorry, I didn’t new this. I will have a look.

Thanks for your quick replies.

Timur

MushinDesign

No problem, have a good day.

Martin

I’m considering purchasing this theme and I had a question about the Portfolio. Can I have more than one (different) sortable portfolio page? I plan to have several categories and want to break the categories into separate portfolios.

Thank you.

MushinDesign

Hi, thanks for the interest.

You can’t set up another portfolio with different portfolio items however you could create separate portfolios based on the selected taxonomies if you had the required WordPress coding knowledge.

I’ll keep that idea in mind for a future update.

Regards, Martin

Martin,

anyway to get a .psd of this for mockup purposes?

Thanks!

Hi there, sorry for that reply it seems to have duplicated from the comment above.

I originally replied from my iPhone saying the PSD would be ready by the end of the week (but for some reason it copied the comment from above).

I have however just added the PSD to the download so you can get it now :)

Thanks, Martin

The theme is great and easy to use.

However, I don’t see any way to control the Nivo slider. Specifically, I’d like to slow it down a bit and use only the fade transition.

Is this possible?

MushinDesign

Hi there, thanks for purchasing.

I’m currently in the process of adding this to the Theme Options, however if you can’t wait for the update you can do the following:

1.Locate to js > scripts.js within the theme folder

2. Locate the bit of code that looks like the following

//Nivo Slider
$(window).load(function() {
        $('#sliderNivo').nivoSlider({
            pauseTime:4000 // How long each slide will show
        });
    });

the 4000 is what you should change to make the slides slower/faster.

3. To use only the fade transition add the following below the pauseTime code, remembering to add a comma after 4000 and before the new code:

effect: 'fade'

So your chunk of code should now look like the following:

//Nivo Slider
$(window).load(function() {
        $('#sliderNivo').nivoSlider({
            pauseTime:4000, // How long each slide will show
            effect: 'fade'
        });
    });

Hope this helps :)

The update should be up within the next 24 hours.

Martin

MushinDesign

The update is now live so if you re-download the files and head over to the theme options you’ll see a Slider tab with some options for controlling the slider, enjoy :)
