I’m using WPML an Alpha in WP 3.8 and have the same problem as altenburgerfilm. If I translate FAQs always all translations of an FAQ are showing up, not only the one to the according language.

Can you update the templates? If you tell me how i can do the changes by myself.

This is a very simple fix. I will update the theme soon because there are some WP 3.8 tweaks I’m doing and I’ll make sure to fix this.

If you open template-faqs.php locate the query arguments on lines 56-61:

You would have to add custom CSS for this (preferably via a child theme or custom CSS plugin).

Basically you can take the code out of one of the color scheme stylesheets and then tweak it.

My web gal is gone from the company that hosts my site. I’ve taken over and have no documentation for Alpha. Can I get this somewhere? I don’t have the ZIP file. Also, the Wordpress version running is 3.4.2. Will I have grief if I update to 3.8? Should I be updating the Alpa theme too?

We haven’t made any updates for WP 3.8 yet (there are some very minor design tweaks we can do in the dashboard) but there shouldn’t be any mayor issues.

The docs are included with the downloadable zip, so you’ll need to get access to the account that made the purchase to download them. This is to prevent people whom may have downloaded the theme illegally from getting access to them.

The “leave a reply” (add comments) area at the bottom of the blog entries has disappeared. I need that back.

I checked everywhere…everything is enabled. I even reinstalled the template. Please help. I’ll give you access if you want…

Make sure comments are enabled under Settings->Discussion where it says “Allow people to post comments on new articles” and also that its enabled on individual post basis.

I’m hitting myself in the head…originally the client didn’t want comments. He does now. Switching the option only applies to NEW articles. Once I recreated the existing articles, everything is working.

No need to re-create existing articles though. You can select them all, bulk-quick-edit and check the box to enable comments ;)

Hi there, is it possible to transfer normal posts (blog) to portfolio-posts without copy-pasting them? We have been using another theme before and didn’t have the portfolio function there. Now we only have normal posts but can’t figure out how to define them as portfolio-posts? Would be great if you could help us with this issue.

Had a strange padding issue come up – where I have extra white space at the top of the home page and extra top space on all the sub page headings. I upgraded WP 3.8 a few weeks back did that cause some spacing issue on the main container? I tried to tweak with CSS but, can’t seem to fix.. http://www.toledosnd.org/ Thanks for any help!

I have a problem, a only want to have 3 highlights not 5, but i’m facing problems because i want them in the middle not aligned to the left.

Great Theme. I do have a proble though. My webseite www.online-marketing-partner.ch shows with no problems on pc and ipad, but on the mobile device it shows this code:

Looks like you added <style> tags in your custom CSS field in the theme options, however these are added by the theme, so it’s breaking the custom CSS on the site.

I see this in your source code:

This is coming from your theme panel custom css field. If you aren’t using it remove otherwise delete the style tags.

The template works great. I have a site working and I’m using qTranslate to provide custom translations. Everything works fine except due to the way Alpha displays the home page the home link always links to the regular URL regardless of what language the site is in. I’ve searched through the template a bit and found the home page link function in the wpex_framework.php file. I’m thinking that this is where I’d have to add conditional statements to link to the correct home page. Is this the right and/or only place I’d need to customize or can you point me to the spot that I would need to get this working please?

I’m not sure what home link you are referring to. If you are talking about the link in the main menu, this would be added by WordPress not the theme, because the Menu system is part of the core.

Yes I guess so. I’m just having trouble because the translate plugin provides it’s functionality through the editor. You can add the translations in posts, pages and CPT’s. The problem is there isn’t a home page to set as the front page under the reading settings with the way the theme handles it. The home page translates if you’re on it and select a different language but since the home link in the main nav menu is a URL link not a reference to the page it always directs to the home URL. I’m not really sure how to fix it so that if a person is on a different page and is reading in Spanish that it takes them to the translated version of the homepage instead of the English. Not an issue with the theme so much as the plugin I guess. I’ll figure it out just not sure how yet. Thanks.

Thanks, but the client has already bought the Alpha theme so I have to use that.

I’m not sure what I’m overlooking but I can’t seem to change fonts using Alpha Theme Options > Typography. I can change the fonts and sizes but nothing changes in the site.

Am I missing something? I don’t see this covered in documentation.

HOWEVER, I just noticed something. The client has me using an https: URL. If I switch to just an http: URL the bullets and fonts seem to work.

Why would that make a difference?

Another thing: the list of fonts in the Pastebin link that you posted doesn’t seem to reflect the fonts in the Typography drop-down. For instance, Telex appears in the Pastebin list but not in the theme options. Did you send me the right list?

Your theme might be outdated. You can see in functions/google-fonts.php the list of included fonts.

So the issue is with https and it’s a simple fix ;)

Open the formerly mentioned file and locate line 558:

$load_google_fonts_css .= '<link href="http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family='.str_replace(' ', '%20', $load_google_font).':300italic,400italic,600italic,700italic,800italic,400,300,600,700,800&subset=latin,cyrillic-ext,greek-ext,greek,vietnamese,latin-ext,cyrillic" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">';

And change http to https to the URL. I’ll be sure to do that in the next update as well ;)

The theme version I have installed is version 1.9, which according to your changelog at http://www.wpexplorer.org/changelogs/alpha/ is the latest version . Is there a newer version?

I don’t see a functions/google-fonts.php. Am I missing something?

This is the second time that I’ve had the client download the latest theme update and I’ve installed it. WordPress still shows it as version 1.9 and the functions/google-fonts.php file that you referenced earlier in this post does not exist.

Version 2.0 doesn’t seem to be the one that’s available for download. Can you please triple-check this?

Bullets should be working, they are styled for the .entry class. You’ll need to show me the exact page with the issue so I can see what’s wrong and provide the fix. thanks!

I emailed the URL to you but I think I just figured out the issue. The client has me using an https: URL. Bullets and fonts don’t work properly with that. If I use the http: URL, bullets and fonts work.

One more thing, how do I change the size of the body font? The Typography page in the Theme Options lets me set sizes for Navigation and Homepage but not for the Body Font.

If you didn’t you shouldn’t be developing sites for people ;)

The main reason I don’t add the option for the body is because when this is echoed inline it will override all fonts in the design, not just the main text. Which in most cases isn’t ideal.

Another thing I’ve noticed with this theme: the logo at the top is responsive with Chrome and Internet Explorer, but not with Firefox. (All on Windows 8.1)

The client also mentioned:

the logo doesn’t scale on my (Windows) phone either. I also noticed that when I view it in Portrait mode on my Windows Pro table using Firefox on Desktop, it thinks it’s “narrow” and shows the “Go to…” version of the menu. If I flip it to horizontal, it’s got the regular menu. In IE on my tablet (running in “RT” mode), it shows the full menu in both portrait and landscape.

What’s the fix for this?

I am really embarrassed about this, but my client asked me to install a theme called “Alpha” from themeforest, so I purchased yours. Evidently, though, there is more than one Alpha on themeforest (for $45) and I purchased the wrong one :(

Is there any chance I can get a refund on my purchase? I realize I own it now and can’t return it (obviously), but is there anything that can be done?

I’ve been using your theme for a few years now and its been great. Recently I made some CSS changes and everything seemed to work just fine except on the RESPONSIVE version, the navigation menu disappears. This never happened prior. I tried to troubleshoot via chrome dev tools and it seemed to be missing a div calling out to the navigation. You could see the site here. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Hi, I am having an issue with pagination while scrolling through my portfolio items. if you go here http://50.87.13.20/~htcapit1/experience/ and scroll down to “Recent Transactions” and click on the 1st block (The ADS Group), the scroll button on the top right is facing left. To advance throuhg all of my portfolio items, you have to hit the left facing button, which seems like it is scrolling through in reverse.

Can you provide a fix for this? A ‘next’ scrolling button is traditionally a right facing button.

It’s hard to see from the front end, but I’m thinking that on this page – http://50.87.13.20/~htcapit1/experience/ – you’ve actually displayed your items in reverse order, which is why its doing this.

Ok, I see. I do however need a work-around solution for this because these are dated posts and the most recent posts need to be first, that’s why I had to reorder them. Can you provide a solution? Maybe I should just log into the ftp and swap out the direction of the arrows?

You can just add some CSS to your site to change the floats so they point the opposite way and since the Icons use FontAwesome you can also alter the actual arrow with CSS.

Sorry for the delay on this.

- The portfolio should display automatically at your-site.com/portfolio

- If you want you can use the portfolio template. If it isn’t working there might be a conflict but I wouldn’t know without having a look.

- Make sure your items have featured images defined or they won’t display.
